Koeman eyeing another swoop for Van Dijk

Ronald Koeman will turn to the familiar face of Virgil van Dijk to solve his long-term central defensive problems.

The Mirror claim that the Everton manager is prepared to pay up to £40m to sign the man whom he brought to Southampton from Celtic last year in an £11m transfer.

Everton were linked with the Dutch international at the time but any interest Roberto Martinez had in him was no followed up with a concrete offer and while the Blues signed Ramiro Funes Mori from River Plate, Van Dijk moved to the St Mary's Stadium.

Since then Van Dijk has attracted attention for his seamless transition from the Scottish Premier League to England but while Liverpool are said to also be interested, the Mirror's report argues otherwise. According to the Echo, Manchester United are keen on the defender, however.
