Virgil van Dijk is an obvious link given his history with and admiration for Koeman but his value has sky-rocketed recently, with Manchester City among his rumoured suitors.

Nevertheless, The Mirror claim that Koeman's "has urged" Farhad Moshiri to splash the cash on his compatriot even if it costs as much as £50m.

A summer move for Burnley's Michael Keane is now being mooted, as is interest in Manchester United's Chris Smalling who is no longer first choice at Old Trafford.
