Koeman to pass on Valencia option

| Friday, 26 May 2017  0 Comment  [Jump to last]
Everton are not expected to take up the clause in their loan arrangement with West Ham United for Enner Valencia, with the Liverpool Echo reporting that Ronald Koeman wants to pursue other targets.

Valencia joined the Blues on transfer deadline day last summer on a season-long loan, with an option to make the move permanent in the coming transfer window.

The fee agreed with the Hammers was initially reported to have been £14m but a recent claim, also in the Echo, pegged the price at closer to £12m.

Valencia started just five Premier League games for Everton this past season, seven in all competitions, and scored three times. He showed in flashes that he could be a useful addition to the squad but the inconsistency he demonstrated at West Ham plagued him at Goodison and it means that he will likely return to the London club with no prospect of signing permanently with the Toffees.
