Everton in pole position for Sandro

Everton continue to be strongly linked with Malaga striker Sandro but face competition from La Liga and the Premier League.

According to The Independent, the Blues believe they are leading the chase for the 21-year-old after Atletico Madrid's transfer ban was upheld today.

The Champions League semi-finalists were strong contenders to land Sandro but they are now unable to until January at the earliest.

The player, who has a £5m release clause, could sit tight at his current club until then if Madrid is his chosen destination but there are hopes at Everton that the Goodison board can persuade him to move to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, a separate report claims that Arsenal are offering former Everton target Lucas Perez as part of a deal for Sandro.

The Gunners stole Perez from under the Toffees' noses last summer but hardly played him, leading the Spaniard to agitate for a move away from The Emirates in the upcoming transfer window.

Update The player himself, meanwhile, says that he is no hurry to "join a big club", be that Atletico, Arsenal or Everton presumably, offering hope to Malaga that he will stay with them having only joined them last year.
