Gomez and Niang among potential targets on Italy visiit

The trip that Steve Walsh and his delegation have made to Milan this week has inevitably resulted in Everton being linked with a number of Serie A players, chief among them now being M'baye Niang.

In an 'exclusive' report, Calciomercato.com are claiming that the one-time David Moyes target could finally be set for Goodison in an €18m deal.

Walsh apparently travelled to Italy to meet with officials at AC Milan, Internazionale, Fiorentina and Napoli and that has also thrown up an uncomfortable link to Mario Balotelli, although there doesn't appear to be much substance there.

Reports that a £7m fee had been agreed for Gustavo Gomez came swiftly in the wake of suggestions in the Italian media that AC Milan are prepared to sell the defender to Everton this summer.

Meanwhile, Blues scout Carlo Jacomuzzi is quoted as saying that the club are interested in bringing former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina back to the Premier League after Maarten Stekelenburg admitted he is looking to leave.
