Hewelt out with serious ankle injury

Everton Under-23s goalkeeper Mateuz Hewelt could miss the next three months after sustaining an ankle injury in training that has required surgery.

Hewelt, who recently signed a new two-year contract and featured in the pre-season friendly against Gor Mahia in Tanzania was named on Ronald Koeman's bench for a handful games last season as cover for the injured Maarten Stekelenburg but he has yet to play for the first team.

Hard luck, Mateuz, but be a patient patient please. Ankles don't need impetuosity to make a full recovery.

So we now can't let either Stek or Robles go in this window in case of further injury? Otherwise if Pickford got injured we'd be down to bare bones (no pun intended)!

Always impressed when I've watched him. Very unfortunate timing, speedy recovery Mateuz.

Don Alexander.. sound enough advice to be patient, but a plea? What makes you think he's even likely to be impetuous in his recovery? Sounds like you heard he was out jogging the next morning!

Lee, I was only making comment from my own impetuous experience with a broken ankle.
