England U21s beat Romania in friendly

England U21s warmed up for Tuesday's Euro 2019 qualifier against Ukraine with a hard-fought 2-1 friendly win over Romania at Molineux.

Dowell and Lookman were starters for England, with Kenny and Calvert-Lewin coming on as second-half substitutes as England extended their first-half lead.

Lookman hit the post while Calvert-Lewin slightly overhit a delicate chip as Romania fought back but England held out to win the game.

Watching the U21s vs Romania just now. Our boys putting up a good showing and this is way better entertainment than the first eleven borefest last night. England 1-0 up, could be more but this game could swing either way. BT sport 432 if you can get it. Half an hour to play.

England score from the resulting corner. 2-0 against a Romanian side unbeaten in 12 months.

Whoops – fuck-up by the keeper, Henderson. Romanians get one back...

Phew â€“ what a game. England hold on. Calvert-Lewin, Kenny, Dowell and Lookman all on the pitch at the death. Proud of all of them.
