Everton Under-23s continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-0 victory at Cymru North side Rhyl on Saturday afternoon.
After a goalless first half against their hosts in North Wales, the young Blues upped the tempo after the break and were rewarded with goals from Anthony Evans, Kieran Phillips and Nathangelo Markelo.
Evans opened the scoring just before the hour mark when he latched on to a through ball from Beni Baningime and slotted past the Rhyl keeper.
Evans turned provider on 70 minutes, whipping in a cross for substitute Kieran Phillips to double the visitors' advantage.
And a useful workout for Unsworth's side was wrapped up eight minutes later as Markelo followed up a saved Manasse Mampala shot and produced a smart finish.
The defending Premier League 2 Champions had plenty of other chances, with Evans hitting the crossbar, and Ellis Simms and Mampala both going close. That came after keeper Nico Hansen stood firm to save Asa Hamilton's header in the opening stages.
