Dominic Calvert-Lewin personifies Everton's purgatory — is it player's or manager's fault?

However, the article in the Sunday Times by Jonathan Northcroft describing Everton as a 'nothing' club led by Marco Silva is very concise and to the point, with some damning statistics, criticisms of the joint owners and even that of the role of Brands.

DCL isn't a clinical finisher. He wasn't a born and bread poacher, out and out striker etc.

He's got a good attitude, work rate, pace, strength, leap and personally I prefer him up front and central over Richarlison.

Richarlison is a more clinical finisher but IMO not a striker. He's more dangerous than running with the ball than having his back to goal.

Tosun is our only proven striker but doesn't suit Silvas style of football.

Kean is probably our only other striker but is still adjusting and learning the role.

If we had other midfielders and forwards that scored regularly it wouldn't be such an issue but we don't, so it is.

I'm not sure you can blame the manager for DCL weaknesses and isn't Brands in charge of identifying and bringing in required players.

The club has failed, it's an obvious issue but the club continue to hope rather than be productive in bringing in a proven striker that fits in and can hit the ground running.

We have potential youth, a '30' year old (age not important) ready striker is needed for this season and next.

DCL works hard and never gives less than 100%. He seems to have a good attitude and wants to improve.

Having said that in my opinion he's just not good enough but then outside of probably Digne and Richarlison I'm not sure any of them are good enough.

Its got to be time for us to play 2 up front or a narrow 3. We have Tosun, Calvert-Lewin, Walcott, Richarlison and Kean all capable.

If Tosun doesn't suit the manager's way of playing he should change the way we play to suit a player that can score goals. I'm sure l've heard from somewhere that goals win games...

Well put David. Meanwhile however we will be lurching from game to game while Moshiri forlornly hopes that somehow Silva will turn things round. We will probably pick up points against Southampton and Norwich and Moshiri will think everything is ok again. Then we'll hit the December fixtures and will probably be e bottom of the table by New Year. Just when is Moshiri going to realise that Marco Silva is going to get us relegated?
