U23 Blues bested by Porto despite Evans brace

Half-time in the Everton - Porto U23 game. Porto lead 2-1 with a goal from Gabriel, not Jimmy but a Portuguese one!!

Brent 49) I thought the game was at Southport, it was at Finch Farm. Getting my information from another Everton website, the club does nothing really to show a lot of these games, takes the supporters for a ride.

Anyway Porto made it 3-1 before Anthony Evans pulled one back, it finished 3-2 for Porto. Evans could make a good player if he pushed himself a bit more, don't think he knows how good he could be.

Antony Evans looks a player, but he is 3 years older than Anthony Gerrard. So, at 21 it looks unlikely he will have a significant top flight career. He needs to be playing games, and I cannot understand why no Championship or League 1 club has not got him on loan. He needs to go out in January and prove himself. Fingers crossed.

Why on earth was this game being played at Finch Farm?

A prestigious European game... and we host the young cream of Europe at Finch Farm, of all places. I guess Goodison Park was ruled out with three senior home games in quick succession, but even so...

I hope with the ' long awaited revolution ' at Everton we get a proper Everton TV Channel, so games like this can be watched.

I am always interested to see who is coming through the ranks, and I'm sure I'm not alone in this respect. Fact the whole Everton PR needs revamping!

If we beat Swansea u-23s by 3 or more goals in our final group game we will tip our group and qualify. Otherwise, it's adios!

(Why do all these posts disappear 🤔) - Everton have never done much to promote the U23s and only let you know last minute - they say part of the Everton membership is you get in free at home matches – if it's at USM Finch Farm, can fans still get in to watch? Now they only have had a live blog and not shown last few matches I've wanted to see – criminal if you ask me.

I wrote to Everton as I'm a member and was promised U23s games live on Everton Web site, yet we get very few. Last week vs Wolves, I watched after signing up to the Wolves website.

Everton's response was that they only agreed to show some U23s games, as it depended on what was happening with the rest of the club's video requirements.

They said that I could use my card to go to games for free at Southport or Goodison – but they know I live 300 miles from Liverpool!

Mike, can't be arsed driving 300 miles for an U23 game? Call yourself a fan?

Everton's website is terrible. I sign up to loads of these websites, like Wolves and Derby in order to watch U23 and U18 games live. It's a disgrace that we have to do so.

Why don't we have more video content? We've tons of ex-players who love to chat about first team, U23s, and U18 games. We cannot show the first-team games live, but we can show a re-run, with expert analysis and such. It doesn't matter if we've got our blue-tinted specs on. The club should be releasing hours of content every day. We really should have our own TV channel like Man Utd and Liverpool.

If the club wants to be big time, then they need to act big time. Things like this don't cost a fortune either, not when it's through the website rather than running a TV channel.

I think this is my third year of paying 㿊 to watch supposed streams of U23s & U18s, it's pathetic the coverage we manage. There's a whole list of Championship clubs who have had better coverage of our U23s & U18s than us — Blackburn, Swansea, Derby spring to mind. I've tried messaging them without any real response.

It is lamentable; however, judging by our threads on here, there's just a limited cadre of diehards who are interested in much below the first team.

I noticed that they don't even carry details of all the U18 games in the Match Centre at the official website. They only have U18 Premier League games — No Liverpool or Lancashire Senior Cup games listed; no U18 Premier League Cup or FA Youth Cup games – not hat we need to worry about that this season: dumped out at the first hurdle.

Sources for information on these games can be hard to find. The nice Youthawk site has really dropped the ball on the U18s also this season.

Still, none of this excuses my tardiness in compiling season records for these teams here on TW, as I have done for many years, but which I am way behind on for this season. Maybe I'll find time in the New Year.

Michael, (11), don't even think about chastising yourself over lack of coverage of the Everton teams below the first eleven, if Everton FC can't be arsed, and they can't, to provide the coverage promised to Everton fans, members and season ticket holders, why should you, thousands of miles away in America.

If I go to the AGM in January I will try and ask those in charge of the club what they intend to do about it.
