Everton Under-23s goalkeeper Harry Tyrer has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 18-year-old stopper, who joined the Blues a seven-year-old, was promoted to David Unsworth's team from the Under-18s this season and there is hope that he has a big future ahead of him.

Crosby-born Tyrer told evertonfc.com of his delight to sign pro forms and a deal that would run until June 2022 with his boyhood club:

“It means the world to sign this contract. I've supported Everton all my life, so I'm very proud. Everyone in my family is a Blue and it means a lot to them, too. It's fantastic and I'm so happy.

“The hard work continues. This club has helped me grow and become the player I am today. I owe credit to all of the coaching staff at the Club, they have been brilliant for me.

“Long-term, it would be a dream to walk out at Goodison to Z Cars for the first team – that's something I've dreamt about since I was a kid. At the moment, I just want to play as many games as I can for the Under-23s and keep progressing.”

Best of luck to you Harry, hope you have a good football career with the Blues, I bet your sister is especially proud of you, the girl who came on ToffeeWeb and gave you plenty of backing.

Those hands make him look like the Mickey Mouse guy at Disneyland who poses for pictures with the kids.

Guess he won't be punching out crosses with those, will he?

Good luck to you mate please be better than that useless bell cheese we have between the sticks at the moment. Had a few tonight in town with good match going people and everyone to a man says Pickford must go, surely he will be first out the door at the end of the season.

ps: Niasse makes Rod Belfitt look like Platinni.

I enjoyed watching him play in the FA Youth Cup. He has a style all his own which included patrolling way outside his area when the ball was not in Everton's half and saving penalties by standing a yard behind the goal line and jumping forward as the kick was taken (it was effective but I think that action is banned now). And he does like to vent his annoyance when things go wrong.

I think the last home-grown goalie to make it for us was Andy Rankin so we are due another.

I've seen those hands before. Wallace and Gromit?

Joking aside, best of luck to Harry, keep up the hard graft.

Also being a supporter of St Helens Rugby League, there was a lad who was a goalkeeper at Everton called Steve Tyrer. He didn't make it in football so came over to Saints. He did play in the first team a few times but is now in the lower leagues... I wonder if they are related?

Len, did he have big hands and eyebrows?

Clive I can confirm he had hands and eyebrows so I suppose that narrows down the possibility of being related. Steve was born in St Helens but possibly could have Crosby connections.
