Everton to open bidding for Zaha

It had been reported this week that the Blues were prepared to enter the race against Arsenal to sign Zaha for as much as £80m but the Daily Mail now say they are ready with a firm opening offer.

The Ivorian is said to favour a switch to the Gunners and the news around Zaha where Everton is concerned could merely be agent posturing designed to spur Arsenal into action.

Palace had initially slapped a £100m price tag on Zaha's head in an effort to deter interest in their star man but the player's own desire for a fresh challenge could force the South London club into now accepting a lower price if they alter their stance on keeping him at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles would also have to find a replacement for Zaha by next week's transfer deadline.
