Everton credited with move for Marseille's Sanson

| Wednesday, 07 August 2019 12comments  |  Jump to last
Morgan Sanson could be on his way to the Premier League before tomorrow's transfer deadline with Everton among the rumoured suitors.

The PetitOM Twitter account claimed that the 24-year-old is "extremely close" to signing for an English club for around €40m but further claims from a source that has been fairly reliable in the past (but which has fallen off in recent years) suggest that the midfielder is expected to sign for Everton on a four-year contract after a €22m deal was agreed with his current club.

It is not clear how reliable the stories are (and it's worth noting that tweets from two separate fake Twitter accounts impersonating RMC Sport journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi have claimed a deal to Everton is done) but Sunday Times journalist Duncan Castles has lent credence to the speculation while l'OM's Twitter account has announced that, "Barring a turnaround, Morgan Sanson will not be leaving OM for England."

Sanson, a one-time France U21 international, began his career with Le Mans before joining Montpellier where he made almost 100 league appearances over four seasons.

He was picked up by Marseille in January 2017 for around €9m and represented the French club in the 2018 Europa League final as they lost to Atletico Madrid.

According to L'Equipe, Crystal Palace made an effort to sign him last week but their offer was deemed to low and was rejected.

I think Lopes is more likely. The money that Everton are pouring into France , a French can base will develop.

Looks like a pile of crap on You Tube and that's supposed to be his highlight reel.

Agent talk.

Don't think so mate... File in the B.I.N.

Not impossible that he’s the Doucore alternative. Different type of player but he’s an all round midfielder; though not as athletic. Could be some truth in it.

I don't know what youtube clip you've been watching Jason Broome? But the guy's class. He's fairly similar in style to Yohan Cabaye, put miles better, the Marseille fans worship him. Great signing if true, big upgrade on Sigurdsson.

He looks better when there's no crappy music accompaniment, looks decent enough with a capability for scoring which can't be bad.

Phil @7

Maybe it was the very short 2 minute, 2:30 minute or 3 minute highlight reels of a light weight player who reminds me a hell of a lot of Davy Klaassen.

If he's such a step up from a proven EPL midfielder who scores double figures each season, is a potential captain, hard grafter, and free kick expert then...

A. Why are most teams in the EPL not queuing up to sign him?
B. Why does he average 6 goals per season?
C. Why at 24 has he not made the France national team?

Agent see's Everton dominating silly season. Agent wants money. Agent links his client to Everton.

B.I.N it.

Jason@11, Siggi a free kick expert?!!!His dead ball efforts for us have been abysmal. Plus, when we signed Siggi, there were no clubs queuing up to sign him either. But I must admit I know nothing about this Sanson either.
