Howe in the running for Everton post

Eddie Howe has emerged as a potential target for Everton as speculation continues that Marco Silva could be fired before Sunday's clash with Leicester City.

Sky Sports claim from their sources that the Bournemouth boss is in the running alongside David Moyes to succeed Silva who is clinging to his job in the wake of Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Norwich City at Goodison Park.

Moyes is being talked about in terms of possibly taking over on an interim basis to steady the ship at Everton in the same way that Farhad Moshiri turned to Sam Allardyce the season before last.

The Dudelyite was an unpopular appointment and there doesn't appear to be much appetite to see Moyes return either to the club he managed for 11 years before being hand-picked by Sir Alex Ferguson to manage Manchester United in 2013.

Howe, meanwhile, had a brief spell at Burnley earlier in his career but the move north didn't work out and he returned to Bournemouth in 2012, eventually leading the Cherries to the Premier League for the first time in their history.

He has kept the south coast club in the top flight ever since and started this season well but is on a run of just one win in seven games himself.

The 41-year-old would not come cheap, however, and Everton would be looking at another hefty compensation package unless Howe resigned his post at the Vitality Stadium to move back north.
