Everton in the hunt for Zakaria

| Friday, 19 April 2024 17comments  |  Jump to last
Everton are one of three clubs who Bild in Germany claim are after Borussia Mönchengladbach's Denis Zakaria.

According to the report, the midfielder is practically certain to be leaving the Bundesliga club this summer and the Blues are supposedly interested along with Arsenal, Tottenham, Napoli and Lazio.

Zakaria, 24, was notable in central midfield for Switzerland at Euro 2020 this summer but what was once a €40m price tag has reportedly come down to around €20m due to his injury problems after the past year or so.

Injury problems? Get him in.

We'll need a replacement for Delph. Eventually.

Can't spend any money, next. Let's get Rondon in, the man's a Benitez legend (how much shite are we in).

Zakaria. Can he run does he shoot. Can he pass. If so get him pronto. This manager ( sorry still can’t say his name ) wouldn’t dare wobble his already shaky nail by getting Rondon in a blue shirt. Would he ? Coyb big win Saturday small club on the march.

Until we sell someone, we won't sign anyone. The press talking crap again.

Paul, so you agree we can be interested?

Hardly stood out in the Euros for me, unlike Schick and Dumfries... now I would have that pair!

Add in a central attacking midfielder who is left-footed and we could have a decent team brewing...

As for the Gaffer? No comment needed.

A overview of the player. He was being discussed on here over a year ago to strengthen our midfield as he was on Sam's and Robert's potential targets list.

Denis Zakaria 2019-20 – Scout Report

It's a bit disconcerting that he is now reported to be for sale at £20M. It begs the question of how likely are his injuries to suffer reoccurrence. This rumour sounds to me that they are trying to create interest and drive the price up. His agent will get more leverage too the more interest there is.

This guy can do a job and is a step up on what we have

He didn’t stand out because he barely played. He’s a very good defensive midfielder but similar to Gbamin in style and a step up on most of what we have in midfield. He won’t create too much or run the game from the midfield so given our financial position, I can’t see this one happening because there are more pressing areas to be strengthened.

Idrissa Gueye is for sale allegedly as is Kurt Zouma. Get those 2 back. They are workers, its what we need. Players who are proven workers and who are willing to put a shift in

This guy could be a great signing. I hope it comes off. Although where would that leave Doucoure and Allan?

Mark (10). We are not short of centre-backs and, even if we were to be interested in Zouma, Chelsea have said, categorically, that they will not budge from their £25M asking price, thereby pricing us out of that market - at least for this season, I'm afraid.

Mark (10), if this had happened in the summer of 2019, then we might still have had Marco Silva as our boss. It didn't - and the rest is history.

Unless his price comes down again to about 20p this seems unlikely to happen.

These quotes hardly inspire any enthusiasm for this one:

Gladbach may have to reduce their asking price given that Zakaria has struggled with injury problems over the past season, according to the report.

Zakaria scored one goal and made one assist in 25 games in the Bundesliga last term.

Let's hope it's the usual made-up clickbait rubbish.

Silva got canned because he's a horseshit manager. And Zouma is well into "James McCarthy" territory; the less he plays for us, the better he gets. And McCarthy did his job better than Zouma did his.

There's good reasons Zouma became a cheerleader once Tuchel got there. Our current CBs are better than him, anyway.

Are we collecting injury prone midfielders ?
