Everton have replaced Rangers in the Sydney Super Cup in Australia while the World Cup is on in Qatar this November it has now been confirmed.

Rangers were set to take on their Scottish rivals Celtic in the tournament but have pulled out, leaving a vacancy that the Blues have now filled.

Everton will play Celtic on 20 November and Western Sydney Wanderers on 23 November.

Just reading that Everton might be going to Australia to play a game against Celtic in November, which might end up costing a few Evertonians quite a few quid, Danny.

Bit far to hitch hike to that one.

Wonder if Speedo Mick will attempt the walk to that match? You never know...

As money is tight, Chairman Bill is trying to hire the Royal Iris to take the squad to Oz.

We haven't got many friendlies set in place for this month yet?

Only three as I count and one on home turf?

I remember the days when you'd have a home friendly as a curtain-raiser and a few against the likes of Tranmere across the water, all good games to go to.

We seem to lack planning now.

ps: Whatever happened to testimonials? Leighton Baines, Tim Howard never granted one?

In fairness Jim, the appetite and support for testimonials seemed to lose appeal in the 90s.

I'm not against them but the marketing and positioning would need to change to get buy-in.

There was a time when they were in place to raise money for players who had been loyal to the club and needed the money as, retiring at 32 (for example), they didn't have a lot else to look forward to.

In recent times, as well as being millionaires through their football careers, many go on to earn more through punditry and commentating in the media.

So the concept of the traditional testimonial lost its way.

I'd like to see it back even though you won't get that many one-club players anymore. Seamus Coleman would be one for us.

But donate the money to chosen charities or Everton in the Community as examples. Then I think you get buy-in.

Agree, we are lacking in pre-season right now. But it does seem to be a short one. I know it's not pre-season, but has Sydney been confirmed yet?

Although not as yet officially confirmed, it does look like a friendly against Dynamo Kiev will be played at Goodison on Friday 29 July, with proceeds going towards the Ukrainian Humanitarian effort.

I'll look to get up for the Kiev fixture.

And I know I'll get into trouble, but I've priced up flights for Sydney. I'll build that one into a holiday.

That's a lovely gesture by the club, Rob. It'll be an emotional reunion for Mykolenko with all his old friends.

Gerry #3, he'd certainly be dressed for the weather!

Fantastic news for Aussie Blues. 2 games in Sydney. Can't wait.
BTW, although I like Lampard, I think Ange Postecoglou would have been a great fit for Everton. Done an amazing job at Celtic.

I just booked my tickets for the Celtic game on the 20 November. They're going fast. The site I was on said they're not released til tomorrow (Monday) but they're obviously doing pre-bookings.

All the $39 tickets went in a flash. I've ended up in the alcohol free area! Like Goodison, there are also restricted viewing seats so beware when booking.

Just booked four tickets in Everton section, for the 23rd, luckily I am on holiday visiting relies at that time, hoping to persuade a couple of them to join me, I'll be careful who I choose 🙄! Stadium looks good.

Went to Tim's farewell game at the Accor Stadium last time in Oz, fantastic day me and my son wore our Everton tops and were made very welcome, would have been impossible to drink all the beers offered.

Pleased to say I ordered tickets for the Celtic match this morning. All the seats in the Everton section seemed to carry a potential obstructed view warning. That may have something to do with the distance from the pitch in what is essentially a stadium built for athletics.

My wife and I had long planned a trip to Sydney and New Zealand during the World Cup break. Nice work by the club to arrange a game while we are ‘down under'.

Hi Roger & John. My wife & I will be coming from New Zealand (originally from Huyton, Peter Reid country). Let me know if you'd like to catch up pre match for a beer.

Thanks, John. Plenty of time but does Lyndon have email addresses to share? Don't suppose it's wise to put personal contact info on here.
