Dobbin joins Derby for the season
Lewis Dobbin has become the latest of Everton's promising young players to secure a temporary move to potentially get valuable playing time, completing a season-long loan move to Derby County.
The 19-year-old forward's move to the League One outfit was already in the works prior to the news that Dominic Calvert-Lewin faces at least a month on the sidelines.
It's unlikely that Dobbin, who has yet to make a senior start for the club, would even have been considered a viable option to deputise for Calvert-Lewin in any case and he now will be hoping to get plenty of opportunities at first-team level for the Rams.
He joins a young team that did well under former boss Wayne Rooney to even have a chance of surmounting a hefty points deduction and avoiding relegation from the Championship.
Like Ellis Simms, who is now on his third loan move, this time at Sunderland, the expectation is that Dobbin will return from his stint away having grown as a player from the experience, at which point the Academy staff can assess the next steps in his development.

Will we even have any strikers on the bench?
And I'm not so sure that playing in League One is going to help Dobbin.

Hopefully he'll get the minutes to develop his game. I've always thought he is over-reliant on his pace; if he can find a bit more guile, clever movement and work on his interplay with teammates, then he'll return a much better footballer.
