Sunderland U18s come back to take all the points
Everton U18s 2 - 3 Sunderland U18
Everton U18s were 2-0 up against Sunderland but gave up 3 goals and 3 points in a disastrous second half for coach Leighton Baines.
Kick-off was a 12:30 BST and Leighton Baines was looking to chalk up his first win after his Academy charges suffered a narrow opening-day defeat at Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Baines must have liked what he saw: he went with the exact same starting line-up and subs bench. And they returned exactly the same scoreline!
Everton took the lead after 27 minutes when Francis Okoronkwo converted following a corner. Matthew Apter made it 2-0 just before the break.
But then it all went pear-shaped in the second half as the visitors knocked in three goals to take the victory.
Everton U18s: Graham, Dixon, Tierney, Ishe Samuels-Smith, Wright, Patterson, Apter (79' Bates), Djankpata, Ebere, Barker (75' Beaumont-Clark), Okoronkwo (71' Sheriff).
Subs not Used: Jensen, Odin Samuels-Smith.
