Wow, bit of a lucky penalty non-call against the Chavs.
Chalobah steams in and knocks poor little Anthony Gordon (kopite twat) flying. Looked like excessive force but PGMOL said side-by-side shielding contact. Sorry, that should surely have been a penalty. But it woulda given The Skunk Maggots a 3 - 1 lead that might have been hard for Chelsea to counter.
Eddie Howe got it right: too agressive, a foul anywhere else on the pitch... so why not a penalty?

Decent match. Barnes should have settled it but struck it wide.

This is what we want, our enemies cancelling each other out.

Going to take a wild stab in the dark and say Wolves are down!!!🤔 How the hell did they knock us out the Carabao Cup??
A 'friend' of mine told me the first season they were back in the Premier League that they "would be in the Champions League in 3 years"... Yeah, right.

Ref should be wearing red, sending off aside, every decision going the way of Beelzebub's 11

I said here last summer, when the usuals criticised Calvert-Lewin and were delighted to see him go, "Be careful what you wished for", and we spent £27M.
What do we say now? And before Paul Hewitt says he was looking for too much money, no, they changed the offer to pay per play?

Wouldn't've made any difference if he'd've stayed, Christy, it's the way we play -- sit too deep, don't dominate the middle, and never get men forward quick enough.
If Calvert-Lewin had stayed, it would've been long ball up to him instead of the other two.
God, I hate football.

I said during the summer when we let Calvert-Lewin go, be careful what you wish for.
Paul Hewitt said he was looking for too much, but we changed his contract offer, spent £27M, and others on here couldn't wait to let him go.
I rest my case??

Christy
Yes, according to Moyes, Calvert-Lewin turned down a new deal but we don't know if money was the only issue.
If you recall, in early summer, he said he wanted to play Champions League, be in the England team, and win trophies as he is in his prime and those factors would guide his decision.
Then, a few weeks later, he announced he was leaving. Thereafter. he turned down Leeds, then eventually sacking his agent before going back to Leeds and negotiating himself.
Evidently, his agent had filled his head with ideas he could get better than Everton, eg Newcastle in the Champions League as rumored. But it didn't happen.
It seems he left not because we gipped him but cause he thought the grass is greener. Now he is back in another relegation battle earning less than he was here. So he created his own mess.

Let's get this straight. Calvert-Lewin didn't want to sign a new contract, that's on him.
Christy seems to think it's Everton's fault. It's not, he's just a greedy git. And this goal scoring form won't last!

Christy,
All your comments about Calvert-Lewin are up here on this thread, because he scored for Leeds in a different game. I haven't deleted any.
Not sure what your point is really about him anyway. He was offered what was said to be a decent contract, he turned it down, refused to sign.
How do you go about rectifying that so that he stays at Everton?

But what is it you want us to do about Calvert-Lewin?
He's gone. He's not ours any more. He refused to sign a new contract.

Christy, Leeds play two up front and Calvert-Lewin is clearly benefitting.
Unlike some on here, Mr Hewitt, I wish him all the luck in the world and will not lampoon and lambast him for the details of circumstances and narratives that we know nothing about.
By the way, a really nice interview by Baz with Dewsbury-Hall on Toffee TV.

You have to laugh.
When Calvert-Lewin was trying to regain his fitness at the start of this season. Those well known sages of football - Kenrick and Kinsella - couldnt leave him alone. How they delighted when VAR ruled out a goal because it had accidently hit his arm...How they couldnt wait to tell us how right they were about him.
A few short weeks later Calvert-Lewin is showing what those who understand the game knew all along and warrayaknow? He no longer has anything to do with us.
Must be terribly embarrassing

I never said one bad word about DCL ever Darren. I always respected the Boundary Road sage on that.
I just wish him the very best of luck and also wish that he was still with us. Darren, mate, today in 11 minutes Calvert-Lewin scored the same number of goals as our pathetic bollards have scored between them in 34 fucking games.
All blame goes to TFG's recruitment team, for a spectacular fucked up summer. We had two main priorities, right-back and striker, and they fucked up on both.
Maybe our Yank 'soccer' cheerleaders will say I'm wrong.
Erm, no.
Prove yourself in January.

Paul.
Never have I witnessed so much bile directed at one player. I hate using the word "haters" but in this case I'll make an exception. Even his Mrs came in for it.
All this talk of "greedy bastard" is utter bollocks spouted by people who have no clue as to who offered who or what. Besides, he was going to be a very, very wealthy man. I think people should stick with what we know and we know he took dog's abuse and nobody could blame him for getting his family the fuck out of here.
I'm more than happy to file this under "spilt milk". I certainly won't be crying. But I feel a little bilious reading the hypocrisy from some quarters.
Beto and Barry are not footballers, but they are getting the same sort of service Calvert-Lewin got and I don't see the point in battering away at the symptom. Not when the illness continues to go unaddressed.

Leeds scored from a load of set pieces yesterday, but they have started scoring with a 3-5-2, that means Calvert-Lewin has a partner.
Isolated up top, but now has a willing runner next to him. Feels familiar...

Darren,
What the fuck are you talking about? For one thing, a few days ago, you said you'd never acknowledge me again... yet here you are dragging me into a boring debate about a former player.
For what it's worth, if you read my posts on here over the years, I supported Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a long time but I got tired of him once injuries set in and it became apparent he lacked the basic technique to be a good striker.
It's clear with him and Tom Davies; for you, it's less about Everton as you slate the club, managers and fellow fans but have some weird obsession defending these two mediocre at best ex-players.
Maybe you should get some mental health help to address your parasocial homoerotic obsession with these two non-entities.

Off subject, I've mentioned it before, but I thought id tell a little story to remember the past, and show us how much football has changed.
I was playing for Forest reserves, against Aston Villa, and then going home for Christmas right after the game, and when I got to the ground, it emerged we had a trialist in our team.
The kid had been recommended by Martin O'Neill, who was managing Grantham Town, who were playing in the eighth tier of the English league pyramid. We beat Villa 4-1, I won't tell you I scored, and the kid had a really good game, and was already getting called “Bing” by a very rosy cheeked Brian Clough in the changing room at the end of the game.
I went home, hitched a lift off a truck driver after getting dropped off at a the motorway service station by Nigel Jemson, and it turned out to be one of those great hitchhiking rides, until I got dropped off on Walton Hall Avenue, just before the railway bridge, which was a 5-minute walk to our house.
I had a couple of weeks off and, when I went back to work, and I saw that Bing kid, so it was obvious he had been signed. A couple of weeks later and that Bing kid (Gary Crosby, remember him heading it out the keepers hand, like Georgie Best?) was making his first team debut and scoring against Chelsea, after capitalising on a mistake by Tony Dorigo.
From Tier Eight, to Tier One, and playing for a team that came 3rd in the old First Division, in just 3 weeks. it still amazes me when I think about how that kid's life changed so quickly, and how football used to be.
Darren@30, I don't think anyone is going to get it more bang on the money, than what you wrote in that last paragraph. Until people get wise and stop ignoring the symptoms, nothing is going to really change, imo.

I feel a tad sheepish talking about footy, but with that horrible run-up, I do hope that Raul misses his next penalty and spoils his 100% record.
Typical Dyche bore-fest this.
