Harry Kane gives Bayern the early lead from the penalty spot.
Nice crisp picture on Amazon Prime.
Dembele misses a shocker!

Absolutely brilliant from Kvaratskhelia levels it for PSG.
He looked just like Ndiaye cutting in from the left, what a finish.

Anybody think we could compete with either of these teams? No, me neither.
Different gravy!

Pretty high quality, Edward.
Shows we have a long long way to go still to be an elite club.

What it's like to watch football actually being played -- amazing quality.
Moyesie would be having kittens... 5 goals in one half and supporters actually being entertained. We can only dream.

What a lovely game this is — it's called football, I used to watch games like this before it became all about defending and possession.
I think there are a few more goals in this game with PSG the favourites to win but Bayern are no mugs. Dembele is not having the best of games although they did score off a very good corner taken by him. I hope his fortunes change in the second half.

An absolute pleasure to watch.
Hope the 2nd half is half as good as the first, and I hope the 2 of them win.

I was actually thinking that Van Dijk might have done us a favour after watching that first half, because I genuinely can't remember the last time I watched football played so effortlessly and so beautifully by two teams on the same pitch.
The reason I fell in love with football was encapsulated in that first half of absolute magnificence, but the reason I am beginning to really hate a lot of football had to rear its ugly head at the end of that incredible half.
Fucking VAR…. It's okay for offside, but for everyone who thinks it was a genuine penalty, there will be another who will be asking, what was the defender supposed to do? Chop his arms off?
I remember playing football, with a plastic cast around my arm for a few months after I had badly dislocated my elbow and can honestly say that you definitely need your arms to play football.

A wonderful game of football spoilt by the VAR.
If we'd have had that VAR on Saturday, we'd have got 2 penalties for that one handball.

Tony, as soon as it went to VAR, you knew they were getting it.
That wouldn't have been given in the Premier League, but in Europe they get them.
I see Prime have given Twattenburg a job, what would he know about refereeing?

I don't think I've seen this much dribbling on a game since The Big Match Revisited

Prime clear example tonight that modern day football is all about pace power, attacking, scoring goals to win matches.
Imagine Mykolenko, Barry, McNeil etc etc trying to play this style of footy... lol!

The PL could never produce a game like this.
Best league in the world. Don't make me laugh.

I turned over to Coronation Street.
All this fast-paced, aggressive, end-to-end football is boring.

Another brilliant second half to follow the first half with PSG adding two more goals in the second to make it 5-2 — Game over?
No Bayern took over and added two themselves and looked like they were going to score more, PSG had lost there sparkle with Harry Kane doing plenty for the German team doing most of his work behind the German attack. What a very good footballer he has become in the last few years going from a very awkward player early in his career to a player who can really play now.
PSG made two changes and looked more livelier and rattled the bar with a great move and finish but the Germans had a header cleared off the line in the last seconds of the game.
I will be watching the second leg next week with great anticipation but doubt it will match this one.
By the way, the Premier League might not give us games like this but in Man Utd's last league game before the Munich disaster, they drew 5-5 v a good Arsenal team at Highbury.
It was a much slower game than tonight's but played with plenty of skill and an end-to-end game which delighted those who saw it. Unfortunately for me I only read about it.

I always noted how Kane would drop deep and look to set other forwards moving at Spurs; it worked a treat with Son.
I hope our England manager is looking to utilise this quality this summer. But who will be the runners???

Real Football!!!!! Oh the joy!!!!
Someone should ask the Moyesiah what he thought about this game during his press conference!

Funny Andy, but over the years I have been watching referees officiate, the only one who Ive thought to myself might have played a bit of football was Clattenberg.
This makes his misdemeanours, in that infamous derby, even harder to take because it meant the bastard, was obviously cheating.

A clear dive is how I saw it Michael. Sssssssssssdd so subjective, I think its abhorrent the amount of cheating in the game of football at this highest level nowadays.

People commenting that the Premier League would not produce a game like this are blind. Remember, this was a cup game. If this was a league game and points were needed, then it would be a different outcome.
Also, there have been games in the Premier League just as exciting -- what about Manchester City's 5–4 victory against Fulham on 2 December 2025, Fulham 5-1 down, scored 3. There's been lots.
Get a grip it was a good game but there have been plenty in the Premier League, but most people are just blind to it.

I personally thought it was a joke, Brendan. A poor shot that was way off target bounces off the ground and hits a fist.
Listening to the commentators (something I very rarely do) Steven Gerard was contradicting himself and the others were absolutely fuming more with the non-penalty, than the one that was actually given.
Not for me, I love football but I absolutely hate the road it has gone down with regards this very subjective VAR.

Bobby,
People were probably excited to see some actual fluent football and some goals after watching some of the mind-numbing shite they've had served up to them at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Tony, I agree about the cheating, it's embarrassing.

Opinions, Bobby, my own was that the game between PSG and Bayern the other night was a game that was made in Barcelona.
Enrique seems to have added a little bit more directness and power to the way the game was played by Pep's Barcelona. Kompany also seems to have learned that very same technical game that was brought to the fore by Guardiola, whilst under his tutelage.
I can't say it enough but the greatest skill in the world is movement and that's why I enjoyed that game the other night more than I've enjoyed a game in years.
