Just listened to Moyes talking shite to Jim White and Simon Jordan on TalkSport.

White asks, "What did you think of Scotland's performance against Brazil?

Moyes, who is being paid for his punditry, replies, "Well, I thought for the first 10 minutes, Scotland looked really good."

Odd comment from Moyes because Brazil scored in the 7th minute. Tool!

I haven't watched that many games but, in the games that I have watched, the standard of refereeing has been so much better than it is in the Premier League.

The refs do seem a lot more in tune with the game with regards knowing when a player is trying to buy a foul, until I have just seen Harvetz, from the Premier League, just do exactly that in the penalty area.

The ref has given a penalty but I'm sure she will overturn this now she is looking at the television screen. Correct, but not for the reason I thought because I think it was a debatable foul, in the middle of the pitch that got the decision overturned in the first place.

Now I'm talking in riddles, because I'm now disagreeing with what I wrote about these refs getting conned by cheating in my first paragraph.

More people attending than at any other cup since USA '94. Record attendances. With a lot more games to come. And the Donald presenting the trophy - no country leader has done this before. Infantino said it was 'appropriate' and said that Donald was a 'great friend'.

Loved it, great effort from the Ecuador players. A lot of teams could learn from that.

You have got to be an athlete to succeed at the highest level of the sport nowadays. My wish for every single Evertonian, is that I hope we can have the same emotions as those Ecuador fans are having right now, because it will mean that we have won a cup.

The absolute joy of being a football fan is definitely on sight in that stadium right now. It's beautiful to watch, when you witness such joy on the terraces.

It was a brilliant team goal. But, alas, Koeman's lot are 3-1 up and Japan will play Brazil. I want to see Japan in the last 8, but, mind you, this years Brazillian team is a shadow of others and Japan beat them last year and were 2-0 down, I think.

Finally, seeing the real reason why the USA is not a true contender. The depths in defense is simply nonexistent. Scally, Trusty and McKenzie are not remotely World Cup quality defenders.

The USA will beat Bosnia in the next round, but that's as far as they go.

What a tough break for Japan drawing Brazil in the round of 32. That’s a quarterfinal quality game if I’ve ever seen one.

Totally MG. Brazil have looked shaky and are not the fluent team of the past. Without Vinny JR they would be second-tier; perhaps they are with him.

Japan will annoy Brazil and make them unccomfortable. Could see them winning.

You can see that the gap is closing all the time with so many nations now producing very good football, Mike, but I suppose we won’t get a real true reflection of this until the knockout stages start.

Japan v Brazil, what a game that should be. I love watching the movement of Japan, so hopefully the game is not on in the middle of the night, English time🤞

I haven’t watched that much football Steve, but I watched the last twenty minutes of the Germany game and it was so refreshing watching the Ecuador left back treating the ball with such ease. The premier league is allegedly the best league in the world but when I watch either of our fullbacks needing at least two, often three touches of the football to get it out of their feet, and play forward, no wonder I haven’t missed watching Everton, even one tiny little bit.

I have loved watching Japan playing for years now. I love their work rate and their energy, but most of all I love watching their movement. I haven’t watched Brazil, they might have lost a little bit of their aura, but they are still Brazil, and although I have long thought that the greatest skill in the world, is watching a team playing with collective movement, sometimes there is no substitute for individual skill, and this is something that gets drilled into a lot of Brazilian footballers from a very early age.

This tournament is going to change, there are too many games, to keep playing the same eleven, twelve or thirteen players imo, so on that basis, the competition hasn’t even really started just yet for the teams who want to go very far. We will see.

No Illy again must have seriously pissed someone off. Must win game as well
