ToffeeWeb Talk: An opening win for Everton, Preston and Bournemouth preview

Patric Ridge and Jon Shea return for Episode Two of ToffeeWeb Talk, with Everton’s encouraging start to the new Premier League season, the final days of the transfer window and the upcoming fixtures against Preston North End and Bournemouth all on the agenda.

The Blues kicked off their league campaign with a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Hill Dickinson Stadium, courtesy of goals from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Thierno Barry. While the result represented an ideal start, Everton did not have everything their own way, with David Moyes admitting afterwards that his side could have found themselves a couple of goals behind during a difficult opening spell.

Patric and Jon look back on the performance and discuss what can be taken from Everton's opening-day victory.

Attention also turns to the transfer window and the work Everton still need to complete before the deadline. Despite the positive start to the campaign, strengthening the squad remains a priority, with the pair assessing where additions are still required and what the final stages of the window could hold for the Blues.

There's also a look ahead to Wednesday night's Carabao Cup second-round trip to Preston North End. Patric and Jon discuss how Moyes should approach the tie, before turning their attention to Everton's return to Premier League action against Bournemouth and whether the Blues can build some early momentum after taking three points from their opener.
