Patty has the blues

So it looks as though we are not going to have any choice in the matter, never mind be kept informed of what's going on from the hirachy or asked our lowly opinion by way of a vote, and EFC will be moving to Kirby... it appears to be all done and dusted.

I honestly doubt that EFC will fill a 55,000 stadium. At top Goodison holds 40,000 and it's a very, very long time since I saw supporters shut outside the ground because it was full. So that leaves at least 15,000 more supporters to find to fill the place, plus all those who have strongly stated that they will not go to games if we relocate to Kirby or anywhere else outside the Pool. I know it sounds petty but EFC were here first and we should remain in our City and not give in.

The only reason we are moving there is so that Bill Kenwright doesn't have to put his hand in his pocket [if he has the funds, which I seriously doubt] and someone else can foot the bill for the building of the new Stadium [in this case the "Every little helps" merchants].

If we move out of Liverpool, over the years we will have less and less support from Scouse youngsters growing up in the City. I feel so strongly against moving out of Liverpool that, after over 60 years of blind devotion, first game attended was at 6 years old, I have decided to no longer put money in the coffers of EFC and will sever all contact. They will always be in my heart and I am blue through and through but move out of Liverpool ....sorry but enough is enough.

The reason no-one is shut out of Goodison anymore is the games are all ticket events and we sell out most of the time. Any remaining seats that don’t get sold all the time are the restricted views, which is why we need a new stadium. With better views and better transport links 15,000 fans will come but it will mainly be dictated by success and family tradition whether future generations support Everton or not.

This does not mean I’m for a move to Kirkby but I don’t think these reasons are good enough not to move. The whole way the move is being conducted by BK and KW is making me think something very fishy is going on and I don’t trust them one bit.

It always saddens me when I hear people speak of not going to the game any more because of the ground move. I certainly wouldn’t argue with your right to do that but I just feel its a little extreme. I dont remember when or why I started supporting Everton Patty. I was very young maybe 6 or 7 and was born in the Dingle. At that time my world ended at the mayfair cinema on High Park Street, stebble street baths and Princes park. I had no idea where Goodison was or in truth that it even existed. I don’t think it matters where Everton play thier football really in terms of securing a fanbase for the future. What matters is that the club is successful and that we existing supporters continue supporting and passing on the torch to our offspring.
I think, given the choice most supporters would prefer to stay and re build Goodison but if that can’t be done we should support Kirby. Its not the move to Kirby that will harm the club. Its our reaction to the move that is the biggest threat. If we embrace it it will succeed. If we reject it it will fail. I want Everton to succeed and I am prepared to put my personal preferences to one side if its for the good of the club. Whatever you might think, Everton will still need great matchgoing fans like you.

Patty, I remember in the early eighties gates at Goodison (in the bad times)that were lower than the numbers who followed the team to Rotterdam a couple of years later(25000) Everton are, in fact, doing remarkably well at the moment in terms of attendances, 35000 or so for middling home games. And this is a team that has won nothing for 12 years and has fought relegation far too often for comfort . For a medium size city with two clubs that is remarkable. If we could be successful again we would have no problem filling a 55000 seater stadium....that is, of course, unless there are too many people like yourself who will not watch the team if they move 4 miles up the road! Nobody wants to leave Goodison but I personally am not at all bothered about leaving Liverpool for the simple reason that when the Club was founded it was not in Liverpool! When it decided to change it’s name from St Domingo’s it chose Everton and not Liverpool although that was apparently an option at the time. Everton Football Club is older than the City of Liverpool as it stands at present and although I love the City as my birthplace I love Everton Football Club more....even if we move to Kirkby. And if we do, I will be there.I hope to see you.

Well said Patty I to have stated that if or rather when the Kirby move happens I will only go to away games what annoys me is morons coming on saying a true blue would travel the extra four miles Like yourself I have been a regular since 1960 but first started going in 58 with my dad ive also been to a more than fair amount of away games the trouble is people cant see the damage this move will do

Have to agree with you there, but the turd could end up with a title. Sir Turd & waste. What an insult to English football and just proves that knighthoods aren't worth a turd!

The boys of 66 had to wait 40 years to get recognition. That waste of space gets nominated for whoring its body around the media like the leech that it is. We need to have a protest to keep it from ever getting knighted.

Patty in Carmarthen. South Wales am I right. So you yourself have left the Pool. Do your old friends all ignore you now, what about your family. Sometimes we have to move, the sign of a true friend is one who stands by you no matter where you go. I myself will always stand by my club - and I would expect every true blue to do the same. Otherwise I rate you as of much of a blue as a certain spud headed striker we used to know. Maybe you could go to united too.
