Next Season

Comments (3)

If they get their act together and have enough players for the league and Uefa Cup, Everton should have a very good season next year. Looking down the list of teams in the league, it is a particularly lame year. 90% of teams are either seriously re-building or just plain old crap.

Shows how different people are... I mean, how in the name of all that is holy do you figure that out? Let's face it, under Moyes, we could have a really good season, or we could have a really bad season, or we could have pretty much anything in-between (as you can see, I'm still not convinced). And that's even before you try to take account of all other 19 teams in the league and how they will all fare. How is it a particularly lame year? The only changes are promotion/relegation ? is that really going to determine how Everton perform? Teams are always in transition, some are better at it than others. There are a host of unknown factors that can shape the season. I just don't understand how anyone can make such predictions.

I’m just hoping, I know we’ll probably be crap with the rest but... here’s my unproven logic:

- Big four, we’re nowhere near yet

- Villa, Blackburn, Portsmouth and Spurs are roughly equal to Everton at the moment.

- Birmingham, Derby, Fulham, Man City, Boro, West Ham and Wigan are extremely crap

- Bolton and Reading could go either way. Loss of Big Sam for former and second season syndrome for latter.

- Newcastle are re-building and need so much work that they won’t challenge this year.

- Sunderland is an unknown, I fancy them to do a Reading.

If 90% of the league are ’crap’ that includes everyone except Man. Utd and Chelsea!

The fact is, that for a large part of the middle of last season and practically all of the preceding season, that’s exactly what we were in a vastly over rated league.

’If’ we signed enough players, we might have a good year, but it is impossible to see where the money to do this is coming from. With many teams in a healthier financial state, Thursday night games and most of these followed by away fixtures, we could really struggle.

Perhaps someone who didn’t refer to Everton as ’they’ might realise this.

By ’they’ I meant Moyes, Kenwright and the players. I didn’t use ’we’ because most of us have no impact on what happens on the pitch beyond the 38000 attending a game.
