Big club, my arse!

So it`s no Barton, no Fernandes and almost certainly no Nugent. Instead, we`re well in the frame to bring in `shufflers` like Jagielka, Roberts and Kilbane. Big club, my arse!

My major worry is that Moyes seems to see Jagielka as his right-back. That would mean Neville taking over the ?holding?r ole fron Carsley and the little fella being expected to ?create? How long now before we see Van der Moyde is making a "fresh start" and Beattie has come back "rejuvenated"!

Have to agree partially with Nick in that the problem lies in serious lack of readies, nice of Billy Bullshit to drag it out just long enough to get season ticket sales in the bag rather than just admitting the truth, then again Billy does have a track record of trouble with the truth doesnt he? As slipped in by Dickie Dodd, has BK earmarked the dosh for the Kirby shit-o-dome instead, watch this space for few signings which will mean lot more chance of another European humiliation and lets hope the league form doesn’t tail off with injuries and suspensions reducing our already pitiful small squad and it’s yoyo league finish time again.

I’m actually fine with this, if the £12 million figure was right. Would have been a flagrant waste of scarce finance.

Fernandes? Silky but overall too lazy and not impressing at the U21 tournament, especially compared to others on show. Another years loan or about £6m, sure, but not crazy money.

Barton? Trouble-making, greedy little shit who’s way overrated. We’ll be glad we steered well clear by next summer, I reckon.

I want to see some quality signings as much as the next Blue, but not just anyone so that the ’ditherer’ tag can be put away for a little while.

You all need to get lives. Find something to do, go camping, go on a cruise. FFS the season is still two months away. And before any remarks as to where my life is, I’m typing this while at work. With the negativity on this site you would think we just avoided relegation.

Gotta agree with David Barks. We don’t sign Barton or Fernandes and season tickets are gettin’ burnt !! Get a grip. One overrated, one overpriced...has the transfer window closed yet? No, so let’s see what happens first before we burn Moyes at the stake eh ?

Chill people, we can’t rush into these signings because these are the one’s that dictate our next 5+ years in my opinion.

Fernandes - £12m that we aint got, and he never stamped authority on the game, but obvious talent, were not in that league yet were we can spend £12m on a player.

Barton - Yeah a blue, but a complete trouble causer, and Moyes has based his squad around team spirit, he’d kill it off.

Nugent - Tough one this, maybe Moyes has his mind on other proven targets, I would have liked to have seen a bid for Luca Toni. But i still think we’ll sign Nugent.

As a cynical supporter who has seen so many difficult times at Goodison, I cannot believe the vitriol aimed at David Moyes. I happen to believe that he is no better than ordinary , but I do think that he gets more out of his players than most managers would. To blame him for lack of activity in the transfer market at this moment in time is far too soon. How many of our rivals have so far improved their squads? If the Big 4 start playing hard-ball that will release some of their players and who knows, we may pick up some of them. Also all the deals this summer will be heavily scrutinised by everybody , in the wake of todays Lord Stevens report.
If we get to the last week in July and still have no additions then maybe we can cry and moan, but come on let’s give the guy a chance at least until the end of Wimbledon.

Dead right - Moyes is ordinary. Luckily for us, he’s more ordinary than 14 other Premiership managers.

Guess who I seen jogging around sefton park today. Andy Van Der Meyde. He looked tanned so he has obviously been on holiday. In my eyes It looks like the flying Dutchman is staying. Probably because of us getting into europe but who knows.

I deffo think its too early to panic in the transfer market although Moyesy does tend to either get it very right or very wrong. Lets just hope he has a few tricks up his sleeve at affordable fees. As much as kenwright has more funds available this season, i get the feeling some of this is being held back for the new stadium one way or another.

Should we take more financial risks or play it the usual safe?

Just a message to Brian Deakin. Jagielka is not a midfielder he is defender. He is not a good as either Yobo or Lescott at centre half and is a championship midfielder at most. So right back is probably where he would fit in. I dont think moyes will play neville in the holding role. It will be Cahill and Carsley most probably with captain fantastic at right back.

To those who think we should "chill" or wait until the last week of July, don’t you think the others are justified in getting a little pissed off at us not signing anyone? To me, the whole management team, BK and Moyes, have reverted to their true form. This is just like 2 summers ago. Would anyone like a bet with me that we sign utility man Jagielka and only one other player on the cheap this summer? We will be left totally ill equipped for next season.

On the subject of the anon posting about keeping Beattie over Nugent I think you need to put your crack pipe away for long enough to realise Beattie is shite and has been a complete waste of money, the fat knacker hasn’t scored from open play for 18 months, running around like a headless chicken and the odd trademark shoulder barge challenge puts him firmly in the "get shut" category. Have a modicum of desire for Everton to get shut of malingerers, no-marks and players not fit to wear the shirt. If we, as another poster said, sign just two players this transfer window then does anyone know how big our first team squad is? If the trend of the last few seasons continues together with players aging and contracts expiring how far are we off struggling to generate a team sheet and subs bench?

Moyes said that there wouldn’t be any activity for us early in the transfer market, so why are people surprised that we’ve not brought anyone in yet?

Of all the "crap" players we’ve been associated with, such as Jason Roberts, how do we know that there is any truth the stories that we wanted to sign them?

Why do we assume that stories of £10M budgets for players are correct?

I personally reckon we will still have a small-ish squad when the season resumes, so players like jagielka who we have been heavily linked with are vital to the team to cover several positions.

Moyes obviously has a plan and knows what we need. Generally speaking, he has not disappointed in the transfer market in the past and has got us good value for money. There is no reason to think that will change.

I have a sneaky suspicion that a few of the clubs spending big now will live to regret paying over-inflated salaries and transfer fees for average players.

Each case needs to be treated on it’s merit.

Fernandes is extremely overpriced at £12m. Sure he has potential, but we aren’t in a position to waste most of our transfer pot on potential at this point. We tried getting him on another year long loan which Benfica wouldn’t have. It will be interesting to see who - if anyone - signs Fernandes for that start of money. There isn’t exactly much speculation going around about other clubs being interested in him.

As for Barton, we all know the score. Opinion vary greatly on what he brings to the table on the field of play, but off it we can all agree that he has major issues which would likely be very disruptive. He just isn’t worth the risk.

Finally, people appear to be very selective about the rumours they believe in. It’s seems to me many like to dismiss the positive rumours and revell in the hand-wringing and navel-gazing of the negative rumours. Maybe people shouldn’t be patient - maybe they should just enjoy the summer, forget stressing over stuff just see what happens.

Stir gently and simmer for another night of European embarrassment...

I am pretty sure that players’ contracts are written to 30 June each year.Only after that date will we learn anything concrete-so why the panic.Moyes is now half-way through a 10 year plan and the report will show he is making steady progress.
I,for one, wouldn’t bet against him getting Everton into the top four by the end of year 10.
Chill out,allofsya!
