£10 million to spend

Comments (6)

Most conservative speculators believe that is the most we have in the pot to spend. I don't think Moyes is the type to walk... who knows ? maybe after his holidays he will have another think. But the fact remains that Everton have had the rug pulled out from under them in the finance dept this summer.

Personally I don't give a flying hoot about the players that have already moved clubs in this window. I am more concerned that this summer we won't be able to push onwards by investing in quality and quantity but then, we have been here before, eh? For me the team comes before any move outside the city and any available funds should go to the team to keep the club moving forward. But once again it appears we have been found lacking in the money belt and frankly the 24/7 investment bollocks is no longer a long-running joke.

It's a disgrace!

The amount of threads that I see popping up on websites talking about selling, about better players before we can buy or that Kenwright is best for the club becuase he is a Brit and is slowly doing it the right way... is just plain shite.

Slow isn't working and neither is paying clubs drip installments with the offer a defender here or there. This summer is going to be a firestorm for all the wrong reasons.

Here here i agree. We Need more funds available and need to be able to compete for good players. We had a relatively good season and need to push on however the teams around us are improving so we will drop down the league due to squad size and quality. We would all like a couple of decent cup runs instead of the usual crap. Spurs are a prime example of sensible investment-improved cup runs and league standings !

It would be great to find that there is a mega billionaire saviour who is in the background just waiting to come in and allow us to spend spend spend. It could happen but its highlry unlikely. So in the real world it would be disaterous to spend money EFC does not have. It looks like its going to be a summer of watching other clubs splashing the cash while we go for some solid performers that will not exite. However, its not Kenwright or Moyes who should be blamed. They are actually trying their best. The question is why is it that these mega billionaires seem to be interested in other clubs. Birmingham being the latest. Can anybody please explain why Birmingham is a better investment than us. So why are the mega rich investors not looking at EFC? Maybe the Kirby stadium row could be an example of a club who’s supporters are so stuck in the past, relying on the old glories to say that we are a big club. Big decisions need to be made that will move the club forward so it can compete with the West Ham, Portmouth, Newcastle, Aston Villa and god forbid Man City. That would be the ultimate downer if they over took us.

So many pointless arguments about why investors steer clear of Everton, one recent being two club towns, well explain Birmingham and Aston Villa and just how many teams are there in London? Think rationally it’s not the fans or supporters in charge of the train set, it’s one person’s choice to talk to potential buyers and say yes or no and that’s none other than Billy Bullshitter "24/7" "commercial sensitivity" esq., so to cut through the smokescreen and misinformation if Billy won’t sell you’ll never know who has asked and guessing the answer has always been no as he is still here.

You know over the past year I really enjoyed reading and contibuting to TW but today is my final day its just F*****g depressing now listening to every man and his dog moaning. No wonder the atmosphere is down the shitter at Goodison if its full of moaning depressing buggers like you lot. Now it may be the ’truth’ as you but it but I would rather live in denile and be happy! Maybe people dont invest in everton because they read TW and see what a unhappy lot the fans are!

As of typing this, teamtalk have just announced we're interested in the £10 Million signing of Stewart Downing. This deal would apparently involve cash and players, maybe Beattie and Andy Van.

I'm slightly happier to see this kind of news rather than the Jason Roberts stuff but if we have this much to spend on someone I personally don't rate too highly, at the moment, then why couldn't we sort a deal for Manny? Downing always looks too two-dimensional to me when he's playing but I suppose he's young and more than anything, HE'S A WINGER! Woooo!

It seems we're moving into Spurs' territory with the signing of good British talent.

Of course this angle of negativity is formed on the basis that you are taking it as fact we only have £10m to spend.

Sorry, must have missed the line out of the club on that and/or the expose on Everton’s finances in all the edia outlets.

Moyes came out in April/May and declared that we will not be working as quickly i the transfer market this summer as we did last time round.

There could be a number of reasons for this, not least the small matter of an U21 tournament taking place, holidays and impending court decisions to determine which clubs will be in what division next season.

This argument is based on sand but is typical of the negative standpoint this website chooses to indulge itself in.

As for, ’slow isn’t working’, John - we finished 6th last season and qualified for Europe, we finished fourth two seasons ago.

Considering we’re as skint as you claim, it appears ’slow’ clearly is working - especially when you compare this to the all but one season of the 1990s.
