Sixth was great

I really do think too many of us Evertonians are `getting above our station`. On the back of a hard-worked sixth place, there`s all this talk ok `kicking on to the next level` - whatever that means! Let`s face it, we can only ever hope to be `the best of the rest` and we were only one place below that last season.
So don`t get carried away, sixth was great ? we`ll be lucky to repeat it next season!

You are wrong for so many reasons.
"Stop with the negative waves and have a little faith baby".
Even if this was true, which it isn?t, why think that way? It takes all the fun and anticipation out of supporting Everton. To add value to my judgement we need to concentrate on taking points from those teams below us in the league. Last season we took four points from both the "Shite" and the "Arse". If we would have done as said above we would have come third, theoretically.
Don?t forget the two games against Chelsea and the calibre of goals it took to beat us, the ill-presence of luck especially with penalties and that 25 minutes against ManU.
Yes, we have a small squad. Yes, we have more games this year. Yes, we have a limited budget. Yes, Moyes makes tactical blunders every now and then and we might be a long way from the glory days of the 60s, early 70s and the 80?s but it?s a dam sight better than the Peter Johnson era.
My parents weren?t football fanatics like me and my older brothers. They emigrated to Australia in ?82, with me as a 12-year-old. I only got to Goodison twice when my brothers took me into the stands for my birthday. I missed out on those wonderful years under Kendall. I live, eat, sleep and breathe this team and it makes my wife crazy because she can?t grasp the concept, even if she did get the Everton crest engraved on my wedding ring. I?m so jealous of you guys that get to feel the anticipation and soak up the atmosphere as you walk to the ground with your mates talking about "whatever will be, will be" or the glory days reliving memories then having the priviledge of watching your heroes run out onto the paddock. (How much you pay for this priviledge and how they play are an entirely different matter though).
Me. I get to be a season ticket holder for the Queensland Roar. Yippie. One of my fondest memories was jumping up and down on my bed at 3:00am in the morning after Barry Horne scored that cracker against Wimbledon. I was listening to the BBC broadcast on my radio having to flick the dial every couple of minutes to keep the Short Wave reception. Where were you? If you were at the game, how did you feel? How good did it feel at that moment to come 17th in the league. Ironic isn?t it.
I know I support from a far but the glory days will return, just "Have a little faith baby".
I agree with you that we shouldn’t make assumptions about that happening imminently, but why shouldn’t we try and improve? Why shouldn’t we "kick on", even if that only means small improvements year on year? Of course it will be hard. But as others point out, that’s the whole point of supporting the team. The gap between our expectations and our hopes has closed a little in the last few years - why would we stop now?
What we need more than anything this season is some consistency over a full campaign. I think we are getting there and there are exciting times head.
