Money for the stadium

Take this however you like but I know someone who works inside Bellefield (this is me who knows him, not someone's dad's, brother's, friend's mate) and they were chatting to Alan Irvine this week in Davie's absence. It would appear that the current lack of transfer activity might be set to continue. The stadium in Kirkby is going to be a £300m investement and we have to provide £30m of that up front to proceed. Tesco and whoever we're in bed with is going to provide the rest. If anyone is thinking we may get some Bosmans in then I'm afraid that's a no-go as well; Irvine says Bosmans are expensive because once you get someone in on 70k a week, Arteta, Cahill and Johnson lead a queue to Davie's office and want more money.
My best guess is we will probably sign Bardsley or someone else Man Utd don't want as they now owe us another Rooney installment after winning the Premiership.
This could, of course, be complete bollocks, but most of what this guy tells me turns out to be spot on. I hope for our sake that he's talking complete shit about this one.

Maybe you are not far away from the truth Andy. About a month ago Daffy Dodd mentioned almost same figure - 25m and he seems to me very well informed about all things Everton
I’m a firm believer in ’get it right on the pitch and the rest will follow’. Why can’t the donkeys leading us to Kirkby see the truth of this. Can anyone explain how scrounging 30million for our ’deposit’ is better than spending it on improving the current team? Please. Is it me? I’d rather watch a decent Everton side at Goodison than a crap one in a new stadium. Who will bother taking up corporate boxes to watch a struggling team of triers? Yes, I know the ’move with the times’ brigade tell us Goodison is collapsing...has it got a safety certificate for next season, by the way? Sorry, no answers, only questions.
My sentiments exactly Phil. Wyness was out a few weeks back stating the average attendance was about 35’000 last season.....so why are the board wanting a 50’000 seater with 15’000 empty seats?
£30m on players and a great side on the pitch and we will soon have people on a waiting list....THEN build the stadium. or is that TOO SIMPLE?
First off I don’t believe a word of what ou say Andy. I’m not calling you a liar but it is a ridiculous idea that we will not bring players in. Wyness has already said, in response to media speculation, that we are NOT struggling to find cash for signings. I believe that the money is there when Moyes gets his finger out. Secondly, regards the stadium, I think you are being more than a tad naive. It’s all very well saying ’spend £30m on players’..how do you pay these £30m worth of players?? To seriously invest in the playing staff will inevitably see a big rise in the wage bill. That is going to be a necessity at some point. Clearly though, to do this, we need to increase revenues. The only feasible way to do this is by moving stadium. If you actually bother to do a bit of research too you will see that, almost without exception, stadium moves bring an initial upturn in attendances. I have no doubt whatsoever that we can sell out a 50,000 seater stadium over the short term. I think in the first season tyou would see us average in excess of 45,000. Of course it is then up to the manager and the club to ensure that these punters keep coming back by ensuring that the team on the park is up to scratch. Finally, with regards the supposed £30m investment required towards the project, I have no idea whether this is true or not. If it were though I have great difficulty believing that we would just save £30m and then say ’no transfers’. It is far more likely that money could be attained through a variety of sponsorship deals, primarily naming rights to the new stadium. I am very much in the ’wait and see’ camp as of yet but I think that is the best course for everyone just now. Idle speculations will get us nowhere other than wound up and arguing for the sake of it. I don’t for a second think the club are so naive as to expect people to give this move the green light without possession of the facts so, if you give them time, I believe we will be provided with answeres to all our questions in due course.
"I don?t for a second think the club are so naive as to expect people to give this move the green light without possession of the facts so, if you give them time, I believe we will be provided with answeres to all our questions in due course." - sorry David the club is everything but naive and as you can see they are already arranging a vote and no reliable information is provided. We are only being told that Kirkby is our only option and that GP cannt be redeveloped.
All the information we get is via our friend D. King and its very one-sided,if Ricoh Arena is the future I am not convinced at all, but hey I reside in Vienna so I cannot vote, why should I bother...
Kirkby here we come
Maybe you dont beleive a word of what I say Davey Jones.....but if you beleive one word that comes out of wyness’ mouth you must be a mug.
