Genuine Poll

Comments (19)

So glad to see that the Club are making every effort to ensure that all the votes in the forthcoming poll are by genuine Evertonians. I know that my proposal that the poll should be restricted to shareholders and season ticket holders got panned on here but at least its adoption by the Board means that the vote will not be corrupted by followers of the other side. You see, THEY do listen!

Whilst I don’t mind not voting as I’m not a season ticket holder, I am a genuine Everton fan and I hope you’re not suggesting otherwise!!

For once, ever, I have to partly agree with Dodd. The votes will not be corrupted by the RS and even though I don’t qualify for the vote I agree that this is the way to go.
The main reason I am happy about this is that I know for a fact that if the RS managed to swindle a vote they would be voting to move us to Kirkby, plus the regular attendees,i’m sure, will vote to keep us closer to Liverpool City center.

I’d like to share the positivism of the previous two responses (regarding blocking the RS from voting) but I’m afraid (as a committed anti-Kirkbyite) that I can only sense doom and gloom concerning the "one fan, one vote" procedure to be adopted by EFC. I’d love to think that Wyness’ motivation is indeed to block the RS but I suspect he’s done his homework about the likely trends in voting and I think he knows that a significant portion of the 15,000 or so regular walk-up fans are likely to be anti-Kirkby (I can’t susbtantiate that belief - but I do hold to it). At the same time - especially if that straw vote at last year’s AGM was anything to go by (yes, I was there) then the shareholder split is about 55-45 in favour of going. Regarding season ticket holders then I’d say that over 85pc of those in the Park End are anti-Kirkby but that changes drastically for those sitting in places like the Paddock, the Street End lower and certainly the Lower Bullens. Overall I’d say that the Season Ticket holders are 60-40 in favour of going. And in toto, of the fans who will be eligible to vote I reckon it will produce something in the region of 65-35 in favour of going. And I think Wyness knows this. The fact that only allowing Season Ticket holders and Shareholders a vote effectively rules out any jiggery-pokery from our RS brethren is a happy-accident for Wyness and I suspect that privately he’ll be happy to trumpet this "ultra Blue - RS thwarting" line to all who ask, because he knows it will play well to the gallery. I’ve said it before, though, what majority will EFC think is acceptable? Because even if it is 65-35, that’s a helluva portion of Blues who don’t wanna go to Kirkby. If that then translates into 5,000 or more fans whose "no" means "I’m voting no, and I’m not going either come what may" then that’s a significant haemorrhage. I really don’t think it’s a case of majority rule on this one (although democratically it should be, much as I hate to say it) and I think the club have to think really carefully ahead of the vote about hoiw to address this hidden aspect of the vote. But my interpretation of the "one fan, one vote" news? I think it means we’re off to Kirkby and barring a miracle there’s not a blind thing that me, TW, KEIOC and anyone can do to stop this M57 bound juggernaut.

I tend to agree with Taxi , wouldn’t it have been more representative to issue a ballot paper with Match Tickets for the Wigan game? By the way has anyone ever seen Richard Dodd and Keith Wyness in the same room at the same time?
Will shareholders get one vote per share or one vote per block of shares?

I am sure Doddy is well informed about that too. Everything is well prepared and as Doddy said it about 2-3 months ago voting wont change anything.

Roll on Kirkby.

Insider Doddy strikes again, funny how every word is identical to those spewed from Billy Liar and Wyness and his mate (can I mention his name without being censored?) Doddy let slip with where the Sky money is going too. JP if its one share one vote we are well and truly humped as Billy Liar just happens to own a great many. The complacency of the attending fanbase is scary with low turnouts to KEIOC meetings and dont forget anything can be bent - remember agent Johnson’s vote, democracy is an idealism with several shades of grey in between black and white, will we have ballot booths with proof of ids or some numpty on the turnstiles handing out the forms, the club couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery but Wyness could get another bonus from outsourcing the whole vote and let the pool station attendees be neutrals so sorry Doddy but no thanks.

Dear Doddy could you tell us please what is your view about the transfer window, who should we bring in and should ship out. It would be a very interesting reading.

What about the Evertonia members? Some of us don’t live close enough to justify a season ticket, but we still come to Goodison and do we not count at all? Personally, I would have been happy with a half vote ( my vote worth half a season ticket holders )> This dilution would have scuppered any significant interference from the few fans of other clubs who might have got an Evertonia card to ensure they get a ticket when their team visits Goodison.

On a slightly different note, this whole vote already smells a bit dodgy to me and I predict a farce when the actual thing happens. Unrefutable evidence of an independent body counting the votes is the least we should expect.

I agree with the lad. It is a bit of a kick in the teeth for some fans but you’ve got to draw the line somewhere. I’m sure those of us whose do vote will do the right thing and KEIOC!

Surely given that non season ticket holders have to keep all their ticket stubs and away stubs for future games would it not have been possible to issue a ballot paper upon receipt of a certain amount of ticket stubs attached to an official sheet. This would enable ALL match going blues to have an equal say in the clubs future with very little chance of interference from the other shower.

Probably the only sensible way to do it. But to be honest, even if the vote is in favour of a move, they’re going to have to spin like a top to claim that they have any sort of mandate - I think it may be closer than some think...

A very sensible suggestion from Paul Johnson that would enable all regular attendees get a deserved vote.

The Evertonia suggestion of Karl Masters seems slightly flawed if other clubs supporters join in ordeer to get tickets to games at Goodison. But what about members of the Everton.fc website? Surely non supporters aren’t going to pay the 40 quid for that when they don’t receive any ticket benefits?

Fellow Evertonians need have no fear about ’the conduct of the poll.’As I have mentioned previously, all the expertise gained in my involvement in local and national elections over the last ten years is at the disposal of the Club.Things WILL be done properly!

Doddy you don’t seem to comprehend just as you wouldn’t have Luq or Tony as poll booth operators I wouldn’t have Richard Quisling do it either, whole point is neutrality a vote with NO potential for bias one way or the other, independents brought in.

Richard are you a member of the electoral reform society Richard? Your words not mine, you offered your help, I don’t see you as being impartial hence my call for completely independent adjudication, the pro move camp would scream just as loudly as the anti move camp if there is even the slightest sniff of sleight of hand.

Such a predictable response to this ’development’. Those who are against Kirkby have decided that the decision to give each season ticket holder a vote is corrupt or unfair. This is simply not the case. Those against Kirkby know that they are likely to lose any ’first past the post’ vote and therefore the excuses are already out. If Wyness would have announced a much wider vote then the same people would be saying that too many plastic fans were voting. I have absolutely no doubt about this.
The whole issue has become a joke now. The Kirkby deal is the only deal available. Wyness confirmed this yesterday. Let’s just wait and see what the plans are like and then decide. I don’t see how people can accept or dismiss this proposal without seeing the plans. To do so is very short-sighted and in my opinion.

Although his somewhat arrogant prose tends to infuriate people,I know many Evertonians who feel that Doddy frequently expresses the majority view. He’s certainly more on the button than the Marshes and Ramejkises who seem to deplore as a matter of principle everything the club does.

Sean you say the anti Kirby group will lose a first past the post vote before it even takes place then say wait and see the plans then make your mind up and your vote, make your mind up you are either convinced it’s a done deal or you are not and willing to wait to a fair ballot.

Clive I take it you actually attend the matches and have never been on the receiving end of Billy Bullshitter or are you still waiting for the Fortress cheque to clear and waiting for that last 20 odd million Man U owe the club for Kenwright’s fifty million quid player? Have you never been aware of Wyness’ treatment of fans stuck at Liverpool airport for the ill fated european tour or had your seat price increased then promised a discount which is blatantly mathematically incorrect? Maybe in cloud cuckoo land these people really are worshipped by Doddy and yourself but people who make their own decisions will continue to do so and not succumb to the official propoganda.
