Tragic

Comments (16)

"Everton are tragic." Where have I heard that before? Having got to where we are today with Europe next season and a good crop of players wanting to go that bit further, why are we not strengthening the squad? We have let more players go than we have brought in. It may be that we have players lined up to come to Goodison but I doubt it will be more than two or three.

Still one of the smallest squads in the league, our players will be burnt out by January with the extra games we have, so I hope "Everton are tragic" will not come back to haunt us again. There is still time for Moyes to persuade Kenwright to get his purse out and pay the going rate and get the players we need to go forward with pride and passion in the coming season. "Everton forever."

Feeling a bit down myself at present, so will add to the gloom with my thoughts on the matter. It is a commonly held belief that this season's money was spent last year on debt repayments and the signings of Johnson and Lescott. This was a gamble that paid off by us achieving the league position that we did. My view on the issue is that we have got little money at all now to speculate and make signings, and what with the emergence of new money at WHU, Citeh, Barcodes, Spurs etc. I am beginning to think that Billy foresees a very tough season ahead with the distinct possibility of a dogfight to avoid relegation. The upshot being that IF we went down, we would not be saddled with massive wage bills and silly contracts for players. I am a happy soul aren?t I?

First off John the window is open for a good while yet and I think we will see some action his week. So players have left Wright, Pistone, Davies, Weir and Kilbane none of who made any contribution to speak of last season. To my mind even if we sign two good new players who are going to be strong squad players we will still be better than last year. Lets see what happens this week.

As for your assessment of a relegation battle next season Tom I can honestly say that is the biggest pile of rubbish anyone has uttered on here for a long while. Where do you get that from?

No offence guys, but I just dont get all the panicking thats going on.
I really am not in the slightest bit bothered about our current situation.
Dont know if its just me?
I will in september if things dont change, obviously.
But wait till theres something to worry about.
Or is it just close-season boredom manifesting itself?

Its not quite what I said is it?
If we got to september and were in the same situation, then yes I would be worrying then too.
But, I have seen nothing to suggest we are more or less active than many other clubs, and many transfers are reliant on replacements being aquired etc.
So until the merry-go-round kicks off in ernest, I fully expect us to play some part, how big a part is YET to be seen.
But lets not forget, were not after any old tom, dick or harry, we should be looking for a better stamp of player.
If we look like we are getting left behind with time running out, then surely that is the time to be vocal, otherwise(to me at least) it just seems like hot-air.

Ah, but by September it?ll be too late to do anything about it, John. A bit like 2005/06 when Moyes dithered over a striker and then went golfing on transfer deadline day, obviously content with his lot. The result: we crashed out of Europe, sank to the bottom of the Premiership and finished 11th. Andy Johnson, for whom he apparently refused to pay £6m that summer was signed for £2.6m more a year later. The result, we scored goals and looked like a decent side again, finishing a deserved 6th. The lessons are there from which to be learned. Tick, tock...

Exactly Lyndon! The yo-yo pattern seems to extend to Moyes transfer performance also!

I don’t know if anyone remembers but that summer where Moyes supposedly dithered, we had already signed Davies and Krouldrup by now. No one knew how they’d turn out but we still weren’t satisfied and we never will be it seems.

I can’t believe the panicking taking place on here. Transfers, especially for good (the right) players are notoriously difficult to rubber stamp. We as a fan base want it all, we want to here of the clubs movements in the transfer market but then moan when the club mentions a potential target and then we get gassumped by another club ala Sissoko.

Let?s wait and see rather than getting ourselves into a lather over something we have no control over. You?ll end uo giving yourselves an ulcer.

Were did you dig up this John Prior dude?.September.WTF is he on ?He is so laid back he is horizontal.By the time Sept arrives what players does he actually think will be left to sign? Its another example of Evertonians who dont have a clue about the real world out there.

John a sit back and do fck all poicy is what has put the club where it is today. Good job there are some of us still about who want the club to progress and not just stagnate. Go back to sleep mate.

Well chaps, you get your knickers in a knot, I?ll enjoy the summer.
Re-assured that whatever hot steam, and extrapolating events of the past you lot choose to do, it really wont make a jot of difference.

Just to repeat for the hard of thinking (TM), I didnt say wait till september before we do anything, I said wait till september before you start panicking.
Which I also semi-qualified my stance by saying I fully expect us to be active anytime soon.
So in effect the whole ?sept!WTF!? from my perspective becomes irrelevant.
I merely suggested a time scale for people panicking, so that maybe I may read something a bit different in the mailbag for a bleedin? change!
?s all.

John, you daft twat, it?s here in this thread for all to read. Why don?t you just admit to being wrong? Waiting until September is TOO LATE. Simple as.

"John, you daft twat, it?s here in this thread for all to read. Why don?t you just admit to being wrong?"

Where did he write that? He didn’t. Read what John wrote and comment on that. I don’t see the point in calling someone a daft twat for something others wrote!!!!!! Just because a person doesn’t jump on the "Quick Lets Panic Because Parker Now Gets 70,000 Pounds A Week And Bent Is Worth More Than Henry Therefore We Should Jump Up And Down And Demand Moyes Pays Silly Money So Everton Can Go Bankrupt" bandwagon doesn’t mean he deserves to be misquoted and called a daft twat. FFS get a grip all you doomsayers.

Barry Earley try reading the whole thread yourself, where did Mike or Lyndon or anyone else mention signing Parker or Bent? Grow up, they merely point out the obvious and for those slow on the uptake - waiting until September to comment or kick off about the lack of additions to the squad will be too late, the squad would remain the smallest in the league as no doubt it still will be even with three or four new faces, the window after that being January one which Moyes has gone on the record as saying he doesn’t like to use; would that mean the smallest squad until the end of the coming season before entering the market?

So should the paying customers be happy with no movement and praying every day that not a single player gets injured, suspended or called up for some international jaunt? The responses to waiting to September to make a decision being pointless are valid.

Daft twat, eh?
So i dont faun over your doom-laden apostles, or fall into line with your mindset, and I?m a twat?
Go for it.
You really are incapable of reading!
Or you only see what you want to see, so carry on.
I dont know what you want me to admit to being wrong to, because I have given my opinion on how I feel right now.
If its wrong to have an opinion different to yourself on here (I supect it is!), then for that I?m sorry.
