Is It Just History?

As a regular TW reader I feel I must ask one question to all the fans who have been on here the past few days/weeks having their say on the stadium debate, saying that the ONLY reason they don't want to move to Kirkby is because of our HISTORY at GP: Would you have the same attitude if we were moving to a 55,000-seater built on Walton Hall Park?
I would just like to add that I don't want to move to any stadium inside or outside a dubious 'city' boundary. Also, to anyyone who believes Wyness when he says that a bigger crowd and more people will enable us to invest in better players ? two years ago, when we finished 4th, we were in the European top 20 richest football clubs YET we still had no money for players. If you believe one word out of Wyness's mouth, you are a complete mug.

Not that I think Wyness is the most trustworthy guy or anything, but this ’richest clubs’-list is based on turnover. Turnover has not so much to do with money to spend on players. These lists are largely flawed. They say something when you in it on a year-to-year basis, but this one-time exception is really nothing should hold against Wyness.
Oh and that whole list is crap nowadays anyway, with all these investors and stuff.
RESPONSE.
I should not have added that comment about Wyness because I only really want the people who talk about our GP history, to honestly answer the question.....whether they would be bothered if it was built on Walton Hall Park?
If not then its not about the HISTORY its about geography.
I agree with you Andy, it is about GEOGRAPHY rather than HISTORY.
I know we don’t like talking about them across the park on TW, but have you heard anyone of them moaning because they are moving away from Anfield? They’ve been there the same length of time as we have at Goodison.
Not only is it about Geography. It’s about OUR IDENTITY who we are etc...
Would anyone like to add to the list?
I would be quite happy moving to Walton Hall Park or anywhere within the city limits that isn’t too far from Goodison (not Speke or South Liverpool). My biggest problem with moving to Kirkby is the fact we will be leaving the city to the red shite and I don’t really want us getting into bed with Tesco. Even if their Director is a blue, he is certainly only thinking of Tesco and not Everton in his plans to help us fund a new ground. I would also like the club to stay where we are until we have people in charge of the club who we as fans can trust to make the move away from Goodison in the right way. All this secrecy over the move and the many many lies we have been told over the last few years by Kenwright and Wyness make me distrust them immensly and I don’t want them to be in charge of what will be the biggest change to happen to Everton ever.
Straight answer - yes, I’d be delighted to stay within the city, although memories of Goodison should be enshrined for future genarations.
And to respond to the pretentious, condescending know-alls who like to point out the boundary situation in 1878, there’s nobody alive who was around when the Liverpool Boundary was extended to swallow up West Derby, Wavertree, Toxteth and Walton in 1895.
Nor when Liverpool became an independent parish (it was previously part of Walton) in 1699. Our club, our city, our future.
I must admit that my main reason for staying at Goodison Park is probably viewed by most on here as plain old nostalgia but I just feel like the only two constants left of my Football Club are the name and the home. Everton are fast becoming unrecognisable from the club that players such as Joe Mercer, Howard Kendall, Alan Ball, Duncan Mackenzie and Graham Stuart came to with no previous attachments came to love and adopt as their favourite. I know football in general has changed, and not for the better imho, and I know that the common view is we either adapt or fade away, but I cannot understand the rush to leave home and risk alienating a good number of our supporters for no guarantee of success or better fortunes.I do understand that redeveloping Goodison is not the easy option and I know that a brand spanking new stadium for an alleged £30m is tempting but I DONT understand why 15,000 more punters are going to turn up and why all these businessmen with money to burn are going to throw it our way, if we move to Kirkby. For me its far more important to build a successful team on the pitch and as much as I dont like his tactics it appears to me that David Moyes is doing this slowly but surely. IF we have a decent team in 2 years time then we might have a full Goodison every week but I doubt we’d fill 55,000 every week. Also, as regards every team having a better stadium than ours they dont, they have newer stadium maybe, but not better. Goodison really is not THAT bad. So the away supporters dont like it? So what? Once we have a decent team I’d stand in a corrugated tin shack to watch. What have The Stadium of Light, The Madjeski, St James Park, The Walker Stadium, the Rose Bowl etc etc done to change the fortunes of their clubs? Even Arsenals new stadium has resulted in a trophy less season for a team that should have challenged for the title. Anyone who prefers to sit inside the Reebok should go and do just that!Me, I’ll take a packed Goodison park with a team to be reckoned with anyday. No to Kirkby,No to Walton Hill, No to anywhere but Goodison Park for me!

Tradition is different from history. I would prefer GP be redeveloped but if I had a choice of Kirkby or Walton Hall Park I would jump at Walton Hall Park. Frankly, I think Kirkby is a dump and let’s face it, it wouldn’t need all this dubious redevelopment if it wasn’t. I propose the stadium be built on the site of HM Prison Walton and rebuild the prison off Cherryfield Drive in Kirkby. It’s a shorter journey on visiting days the relatives of the inmates.
I've had enough of this slagging off. Jackson your just another muppet who has never been to Kirkby and goes off an old impression. If you actually look at crime figures for Kirkby and Liverpool, Kirkby has at least 50% less of every crime the police measure. Plus it's also had millions of pound of investement in new homes... one of which I live in.
In comparison, Anfield, County Road and all the surrounding areas are complete shitholes that I have to travel to every other saturday to watch Everton! Cheeky bastard! Just so you're all not confused I don't want the stadium in Kirkby ?in fact I don't want one anywere yet.
