What is the value of the Yak?

I see that it is rumoured that the Yak might be reviving his move to West Ham but that Everton value him at £8M could be a sticking point. If he is truely worth that much, shouldn't he be an automatic first team choice? The fact that he isn't indicates that his market value is considerably less.

I would have thought that it would have made good business and perhaps made for some attacking entertainment to have played the Yak throughout December, which sends a message to the transfer market that we place a real value on him rather than an accountant's book value.

Get him off the wages book asap. Looked absolutely useless when he came on at West ham. He is finished at this level. Beckford is the best option up front at present.

His value is what ever a buyer is willing to pay for him and that's all, for all the stubborn posturing in the world any buyer in their right mind would know:

1. We are in the shit and potless so a low offer can be made to a desperate seller;

2. Yakubu hasn't played for the best part of a month so the buyer can lower his price again using that as an excuse ? unfit, out of form, blah blah blah;

3. Whatever offer is made can be a take-it or leave-it because any buyer knows Everton can't buy a goal at the minute and need an early sale to replace him.

Any or all of the three put Everton on the back foot and on a hiding to nowhere with getting a decent price.

Couldn't agree more Dave, sounds about right.

I know they were rumours but if true, these summer deals SHOULD have gone through:

Saha to Galatasaray for £8M
Pienaar for Keane plus £5M.
Yak to West Ham for £5M.

Everton are not in a position to demand a price for a striker who is only reduced to a cameo role coming of the bench now.

Instead of "What is the value of Yak?", this thread should be called "What is the point of Yak?" He may find his level playing for the Hammers in the Championship.

If we sold Yak, Saha and Vaughan we would be hard pushed to raise £8 million... Saha had great ability but he is too old and injury prone nowadays.

The Yak is certainly older than his supposed 28 years and he looks unfit and uninterested... he certainly will not do the chasing our tactics require.

Vaughan is still as raw as ever and I do not see any improvement in him. Beckford has to be given a bit more time but he is already 28 years old and is already considered best as an impact sub (according to DM)... that leaves Big Vic... if he stays injury free and has a few games under his belt he may make it BUT... he is not a natural goal scorer... he reminds me of Shola Ameobi a bit.

I reckon that's the sum total of our striking situation and with Cahill off very soon... the time for Beckford or Big Vic to come good is 'nigh.

I just have this feeling, if the Yak goes to the Hammers, he will do well and probably score some vital goals to keep them up.

The problem is, like every other PROVEN goalscorer that comes to Everton, they become worn out and demoralised from all the running outside the box instead of being in the box to put them in.

Totally agree with Gav on the valuation by the way.

The club is being run very amateurishly with Gosling, Pienaar and possibly Anichebe being allowed to run their contracts down.

It seems to me that Moyes is sticking two fingers up at everybody because he feels let down by the board.

Well, the news for him is we all feel the same way ? except now we are being let down by the manager and players as well.

100 pukka pies and a dozen Krispie Kremes should be enough to show him the exit door!
West Ham now value him between £1-2M. Aside from one good season where he scored 20+ goals what a write off, near enough £9M. Master stroke by Moyes yet again.

The cost of the Yak's diet would have to be taken in to consideration in any transfer. Contacting Puka pies and their costs will be factored in by any club buying the Yak.
