Comments (17)
Breaking news, Davey Moyes must have been sick of reading the debates about the 4-5-1 & 4-6-0 formation has now going for a 4-4-2 formation.
Howard
Neville Distin Heitinga Baines
Coleman Felliani Arteta Piennar
Beckford Saha
Come you blue boys!

Great result, another 3 points against the shite will be a good start to 2011.
Just a little point, thought Coleman was immense, all the talk of Bale 7 lennon and they both were shownmuo by a £60,00 bargain buy.
jermaine keep your head up lad, worked hard and never stopped running.
1. When Jags returns
2. When Cahill returns
4-4-2, positive play and a well deserved win.
Fantastic result today, but the performance was even better. Thought the crowd were great, helped no doubt by the formation picked. Beckford and Saha showed that 2 real strikers up front creat space, crate chances, cause havoc, hold the ball up, link up and bring the midfield forward. Rocket science this football lark ya know.
You have my apologies, only in so much that, yes when DM finally sees what a thousand posters have been saying on this site all season comes to fruition.
Michael responded to me with a very balanced responce recently to what was a provocked attack from some of your views.
Here are some off mine: Moyes playes 4-4-2 We win or play good football ? then Moyes does what he has had to do all season.
Moyes reverts to type ? 4-5-1/4-6-0 he has to go.
Forget the FA Cup Bring on the Shite!
Great play by Beckford to keep the ball moving to create the space for Saha leading to the 2nd goal. That wouldn't have happened with a 4-5-1 formation.
Let's hope Davey doesn't revert to type for our next two games.
This could be the way to bring the best out of Saha, who looked a completely different player, even tackling and chasing people down. I would like to see Mr Moyes continue with this formation, especially against Liverpool in 10 days time.
I thought Beckford had a good game, tying up the Spurs defence and running into space for passes, he just needs to stop panicking when he gets chances.
Coleman is, basically unplayable, maybe not a Rolls Royce like Bale, but Bale has no reverse gear, whereas Coleman is up and down and across the pitch for the whole game, he also just needs to calm down when he gets into the penalty area, but he is improving every game.
Man of the Match for me was Fellaini, absolutely a class above anyone else on the pitch, played his defensive role perfectly, but also became a true box-to-box player, with Arteta covering well for him when he went forward... Signs ot Arteta improving, but still well below his best.
Baines just had Lennon in his pocket the whole game, easily now the best LB in the PL.
Mr Moyes needs to keep this attacking mindset, leave Beckford for a run of games and I think he will score goals, the ball always appears at his feet in the box, the sign of a good striker. I think he doesn't realise he has the time and rushes his chances because he is now in the PL, take a leaf out of DJ Campbell's book, lower league player scoring goals in the PL.
There was one thing missing from the Everton performance, no hoof ball, everyone trying to play out from the back, even Howard threw a few balls out.
Mr Moyes, this is all Evertonians want, try to play football, take the game to the opposition and every player pulling their tripe out, I think even if Spurs had equalised, the team would have still got a standing ovation at the end, there is no ground with a better atmosphere than Goodison when the team are up for it.
Now just keep it up !
As the man says, playing two "recognised strikers" does not necessarily equal 4-4-2 and, for that matter, is not automatically "more attacking".
Spot on. I have not been Saha's biggest fan of late but last night he put himself about and actually shot at the goal.
The major difference for me was that Spurs played an attacking game. Most teams are coming to GP to defend, we are then empty on ideas as how to break these teams down who are heavy in defence but quick on the break.
