Here's some good strikers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZhysyhUL9k
Anyway, my point is, if we want to play 4-4-2 (which we do), we need 3 decent strikers to choose from.
We've got probably one and a half decent strikers.
Let's see the board back Moyes and get Darren Bent in. He wants out, he's got 20 goals in him, I think he'd do well.
It's not going to happen is it?
Most likely, if there is another striker coming in, it will have to be one of Moyes's shrewd puchases from the lower leagues.
How about that powerful striker who scored on his debut for Leicester at the weekend?

We can't afford Marcu Bent!
We havent got a pot to piss in so how do you propose we make it happen???
Were broke and everyone knows it so expect low bids in the summer for the likes of Rodwell and we will struggle to say 'no'. And seriously how much longer can we keep hold of Fellani? He could run the show for any side in the Prem and probably most of Europe too and we simply wont be able to keep him much longer. Its sad days ahead I fear
I would agree Beckford should be given a good run. Anichebe is a battler but lacks finesse.
Could not Moyes make a swap with Spurs -Pienaar for Keane or one of the others who cannot get a game at White Hart Lane Jenas or Kranzjar?
Maybe the wage bill is the problem
He almost scored the winner in the derby - surely that counts for something.
Two goals in two games, admittedly against poor defences (arf arf), could be the start of a run, especially with West Ham's joke defence dropping by next.
Give him a run of games and plenty of game time and he may just keep sticking them in the net.
As for Pienaar, he's been good for a couple of seasons so it's fair enough he wants a more realistic punt at CL football (and, being a modern day footballer, a big pay day) But he might just regret it when he find himself as one of Spurs dozen midfielders with less chance of a game every week.
Michael #13 Beckford's stats from Leeds were 72 goals in 126 appearances which isn't bad even if it is lower league.
We need a short term fix in the Kevin Campbell mould. So I came up with... Eidur Gudjohnsen.
He is 32 but knows where the net is. Is warming the Bench at Stoke. Worth a Punt?
Why do i feel that if they had developed at Arsenal their technique may have been coached a bit better.
Not sure where our Striker messiah is gonna come from this season. I'd be tempted to try Beckford with Billy just behind him. He's intelligent can hit the ball and is decent in the air. Maybe thats late night madness talking.
Your own name doesn't sound very English maybe you'd like to share your heritage with us so we can throw some racist and bigotted shite your way. It's not ok to use such terms against Irish any more than it would be to use derogatory terms against distin for being black. And don't go all righteous and PC. Just don't stoop to racist slurs.
I'm Irish and never laid Tarmac in my life. Neither have the vast majority of us 'gypos'. Were all too busy getting pissed on Guinness in our little green suits and Ginger beards
the "Darren Bent opportunity" actually neatly sums up the problem with our board. if we were to take a chance on him and he fired us into the champions league, then his fee, wages etc. would instantly be paid for, and then some. but the chances of this happening are less than zero.
For what it's worth, I think we need a Keane/Gudjohnson to play in the hole more than an expensive flop in the making £20 mill finisher like Bent. I'd take a ball player any day.
Have you been under a rock for the past year or two?
If Moyes can bring anyone in permanently, it will be with the £3m or so he can get from the proposed Pienaar deal - which in cash terms limits us to Championship signings.
On a loan front, he has just freed up the salaries of Yakubu and potentially Pienaar to spend on other strikers.
That's his budget. Bent will cost £18m +. Keane will cost £6m. Both of these players will be requesting higher salary than Yakubu and Pienaar were earning combined. It's not difficult to work out.
There's no money as the club are not willing, or not able to borrow. In my mind that's fine. We can continue to perform as we are without putting ourselves in the perilous financial positions of other clubs who have stretched themselves beyond their means.
Be happy with what we have. If I want a new telly and I don't have the money for a new telly then I think. Do I need a new telly? My existing telly serves a purpose, it works but perhaps a bigger better telly would be good? However if there's no money for a new telly at the moment I'll wait until I have the money to buy it.
Anichebe, Saha, Beckford. Lauded one day, piloried the next. They'll do for me at the moment, until such a point that more money comes available.
Besides! Darren Bent in my opinion is not worth anything like the value been banded around.
I would imagine Moyes has somebody in mind, and if so, we will find out when the Pienaar money comes in.
There's nothing to say that either Bent or Keane, even if the money were leveraged (ie borrowed) to pay for them, would prove any more successful than what we have.
The Yak arrived on a tide of goals, which have dried up since his injury, but a decent half season in the Championship could be just what he needs to get fit and find some form.
His pre-injury goals record, lazy or not, does stand up to scrutiny and there's no reason to suggest any striker you care to mention would do the business any better.
As I said in my previous comment, Beckford could do a job for us and has looked better lately. So let's give him a chance, eh?
You state: "Have you been under a rock for the past year or two?" and then further on in your comments you add: " We can continue to perform as we are without putting ourselves in the perilous financial positions of other clubs who have stretched themselves beyond their means." mmmm. We are not in a perilous financial situation now then? Having to sell players just to be able to balance the books and pay employees. We have sold all our business assets except players and Goodison Park. Here is an example of forward thinking business savvy from Everton: A state of the art training facility was built to the tune of £10 million and we now rent it every year for £1 million for the grand sum of £25million (25 year lease). Like I said earlier it is folly to suggest we should buy this player or that but quite frankly we are in a perilous financial situation already because of the lack of foresight and business acumen at board level.
Doesn't matter if you disagree, the manager sees them as better options and the fact is they are both suddenly scoring goals. And where are all these quality players who are leaving Everton. Again, one player who is out of contract and wants to move. It happens, AT ALL CLUBS, from time to time. Xabi Alonso wanted out of Liverpool because he wanted out. Tevez still wants out of City because he wants out. Again, business is always about raising funds to spend funds. The problem is football hasn't been like that for the past decade or more and fans have come to expect endless amounts of money spent with no consequence. Selling Pienaar now brings in some money, it's a smart thing to do. We will sell Yobo this summer, it's a smart thing to do as we have better. We will sell Yakubu this summer, the manager sees other players as better options. That will raise money, other players will come in. Maybe we capitalize on one big sale. I see Jagielka as someone we could sell for quite a high amount which would allow us to do a lot to this squad. We have a tight budget, but a little creativity (see Arsenal) can allow the squad to be strengthened.
"Operate on a very tight budget? Sure, absolutely. In danger of going bust, no. Having to sell star players to balance their books? Absolutely not." The "very tight budget" before the transfer window opened was £0, not really a budget is it? (Moyes said this himself). In other words we are at maximum operating costs and we cannot borrow any money as we are maxed out with the banks and also on future TV revenue! (I am sure you know this already). We can only sell/ loan out players to survive as we have no assets left. Not really rocket science is it?
I agree that they are doing the best business they can now with Pienaar to get something rather than nothing, that is obvious. I appreciate your view but for me the financial state of the club is perilous. Where exactly are the accounts for the last tax year? Up until this point Everton have been very straightforward and punctual about this but not now, coincidence? I doubt it.
He is not getting a game at Stoke, knows where the goal is.
Short term maybe?
As for the budget issue, when I say budget I'm talking about the business overall, not one single aspect in the transfer budget. Two separate things. Our budget includes locking up players to increased contracts, which with the single exception of Pienaar we have been able to do. That would include scouting etc, which again judging by the find of Coleman for next to nothing is working.
No we can't just offer silly money for any player we want, but who can other than City? Spurs shipped players out on loan and now bring in Pienaar. Do you not think that their people looked at the wages shipping out before bringing more in? Villa are going for a big money signing, six months after selling their key player for big money. Money in money out. That's the way it should work. You sell a player and bring some in.
Timmie should slot in just behind the front two. Hopefully this may be Moyes mindset too.
Vaughan and Anichebe have probably shown their best sides and I don't think they can play anything but bit parts whilst they are at Goodison which is a shame because they both promised a lot early and were set back by bad injuries. Luckily Coleman has an eye for a goal or two but we need more from Fellaini and Arteta who are both stilltrying to get back to their best. Osman is nothing more than a stop gap at the moment. Gueye and Duffy should both be given some playing time before the end of the season and if not then Moyes must not be rating them and should move them on.
In short what we have is what we have to live with as it appears that Moyes is making no moves to add to the squad depite many rumours going around and time running out.
