Anyway, my point is, if we want to play 4-4-2 (which we do), we need 3 decent strikers to choose from.
We've got probably one and a half decent strikers.
Let's see the board back Moyes and get Darren Bent in. He wants out, he's got 20 goals in him, I think he'd do well.
It's not going to happen is it?
Most likely, if there is another striker coming in, it will have to be one of Moyes's shrewd puchases from the lower leagues.
How about that powerful striker who scored on his debut for Leicester at the weekend?

Don't care what anybody says, Keane would be perfect if we could get him. 30 is not too old and I think Moyes sees that with Neville. It looks as if Pienaar is going to Spurs, so let's make a deal. He has pace, is capable of playing out wide or up front, is an accomplished finisher and is good with the ball. He'll be hungry to prove people wrong and could teach Beckford a thing or two over the next year. He's for sale, Birmingham had a fee agreed at around 6 million, we should make it happen.

Am I the only one who saw Jermaine Beckford score yesterday? It was an incredibly well taken goal. He made a smart run, good first touch, looked up, shielded the ball from a defender, and calmly slotted it home; textbook. I think he's going to end the season with at least 10 goals and be a key player for us.
I like Beckford I just want Keane to help him. As for how we make it happen, we're selling Pienaar aren't we, for at least 3 million. Arsenal were interested in Jags for a hell of a lot more and now have an injury crisis in that area. I say sell him with Distin and Heitinga doing well and a couple of highly touted youngsters coming through. Now you have the money for Keane and maybe a cheaper CB for cover. That's how. Losing one player who's out of contract hardly means we'll suddenly lose Rodwell and Fellaini on the cheap. Get a grip.
Sorry but Bent would not improve the Blues and certainly not for 19million.

Tom, Arry said he was looking for at least £9m for Kranjcar, when it came out that he may have to move on.
Not sure exactly what Beckford's goals per minutes ratio is this season - sure someone on here has that to hand - but give the guy a chance.

Two goals in two games, admittedly against poor defences (arf arf), could be the start of a run, especially with West Ham's joke defence dropping by next.
Give him a run of games and plenty of game time and he may just keep sticking them in the net.
As for Pienaar, he's been good for a couple of seasons so it's fair enough he wants a more realistic punt at CL football (and, being a modern day footballer, a big pay day) But he might just regret it when he find himself as one of Spurs dozen midfielders with less chance of a game every week.

David #10, apparently that tarmac spreading mercenary wants a fucking pay rise to go to Birmingham, he can whistle before I'd see him play for Everton. I'd take Krancjar off them but not Keane.

The reports about Keane's wage demands came from Birmingham and they did not say he wanted a raise, just that it was more than they wanted to spend while saying they were fair demands for a player of his ability. I just love it, you ask for a certain salary to do your job and that's fine, they ask for a certain salary and they're mercenaries. Get over it. He's a quality player who would help us.
David, it's some time since Keane was an above average player. Yakubu is better, His offloading was a disgrace.

Darren Bent is a bloody goal machine, can see him joining Villa maybe but not for less than £20 million.

For what it's worth, I think we need a Keane/Gudjohnson to play in the hole more than an expensive flop in the making £20 mill finisher like Bent. I'd take a ball player any day.

Darren Bent is marginally better than Beckford, certainly not worth anywhere near that ridiculous fee and it's no wonder that Sunderland are entertaining it. We need a striker with a first touch, someone who can hold the ball up, not another pacey striker who would be forever running towards the corner flags.

It amazes me that some fans think that we can still shop in Harrods, when we just about make the £1 store!

Richie James (22) talks a lot of sense. A lot of clubs are constantly chasing the dream with this constant credit card finance.
There's nothing to say that either Bent or Keane, even if the money were leveraged (ie borrowed) to pay for them, would prove any more successful than what we have.

Everton is not in a perilous financial situation. Operate on a very tight budget? Sure, absolutely. In danger of going bust, no. Having to sell star players to balance their books? Absolutely not. They're selling a player for 3 million pounds five months before his contract is up because he wants a lot of money and we don't value him at that level. They loaned out Yakubu because the manager saw Beckford and Saha as better options, with a younger Anichebe valued more going forward. So Yakubu is loaned out to save on wages which with our budget is necessary to bring in help. Then he will be sold in the Summer to bring in more money. Stop making the situation worse than it is. We loaned out one striker who hardly played the past 2 years and are selling one midfielder who is out of contract and won't agree a new one.
Beckford and Saha better options than Yakubu? If you can get Saha on the pitch for two games in a row maybe, in my opinion Saha's finished as a top footballer, his body can't take the rigours of the Prem on a weekly basis. The jury's still out on Beckford so i'd have to disagree on both counts. As for our financial situation it isn't good. Quality players are leaving the club for whatever reason and are going to be replaced by loanee championship players. We are the sickman of the Premiership with practically every club being able to outspend us. Where are the transfer funds coming from to improve the squad in the summer without selling our better players? No sign of any investment coming into the club, no stadium improvements or news on the stadium move. On the football field if we say things are fine as they are we're kidding ourselves. Ok we might tick over in mid table if we don't bring any quality players in but eventually if we're standing still we will be over taken by clubs around us moving on and we will start to go backwards. The next 3-4 seasons will be difficult.

Pienaar's a quaility player, Yakubu's a quaility player and Yobo is a proven established Premiership centre half. None of which will be at the club next season.
Yakubu WAS a quality player. He has been put up for loan and went to a CHAMPIONSHIP club. He hasn't scored goals, at all. Yobo was passed by better defenders, we have at least 2 and in my opinion 3 better CBs now. And as I said we aren't the only club who has a player who has wanted to leave. Look at Sunderland with Bent wanting out to move to a much worse club.

We have a proven class striker at the club and that is Saha. Trouble is he is stricken with injurie woes and is not getting any younger. His conributions will be minimal because of that fact. Beckford is quick and is showing his poaching forte and should keep his place even when Timmie comes back.
Timmie should slot in just behind the front two. Hopefully this may be Moyes mindset too.
