Sacrifice for the future

Reading a lot of views on here combined with transfer rumors has got me thinking about the future of the club. As it stands right now we are 12th in the league while teams like Man City, Spurs and even Bolton/Sunderland are doing well. We have no money to spend and are now letting are assets leave one by one.

With this in mind there is one solution that would not only safeguard our future but also potentially push us on further than we are now, youth. The money we are getting now could be spent on young players rather than short term solutions.

We may have not moved for Hammil but there are others out there. Now, if we spent our money on them, threw them into the reserves and left them for a season to 'develop' ? or in some eyes do nothing ? you would think I have gone mad. But look at this way, we sacrifice next season to a debt paying year, get by on what we have, then start fresh in 2012, the potential could be;

Gueye
Silva
Coleman
Rodwell
Fellaini
Baxter
Barkley
Duffy
Mustafi
player a
player b
player c
player d

This list could be all the players in 2012 who would be breaking into the squad/team as the likes of Neville, Cahill, Arteta, Saha, Hibbert, Osman and Disitn to name a few would be winding down and/or finishing their career. The potential therefore is a younger, hungrier, better Everton team than we have now, but developed with enough experience to give them a running start.

Chris.

You post sounds like company talk - almost BK at his best.

Youth policy is fine, but you need experience in the team, players who understand the EPL.

Going forward we must purchase players that have EPL experience otherwise our youth players will be running out against Championship teams!

Have we not been writing of seasons as debt paying years for about the last decade?

Some of those players should be getting first team chances now (not just the obvious ones that are in there I am talking Baxter, Duffy, Mustafi and Gueye) let alone chances to develop in the reserves.

You do not develop in the reserves, you develop by being with and playing in the 1st team. Look at Coleman.

The best development if not our 1st team would be on loan in someone elses 1st team. Look at Coleman.

Yes we need to think about the future but how many youngsters have we bought at 16, 17 and they never make the grade.

Its now we need to look to, being successful now will make the future easier as with success brings money and also players will want to play for us.

Yes Coleman has developed since he's been in our first team but that's because he was good enough to be selected int he first place. Moyes sees the others every day. They're obviously not good enough yet. He's not not picking them for no reason.

The road to relagation there Chris. To have continued progression on the pitch you need a strong core of experienced Premiership players, bringing a couple of younger players through each season and each year buying quality players( who are better than you already have) to add to your squad whilst moving on ageing and periphy players. At the moment we are unable to that due to our financial problems and until we can we will stand still as a football team.

Looks like a recipe for relegation to me!Lleave it to the experts-BB and Davey haven`t done too badly by us so far and have years `in the tank` remaining. .

The problem is Chris, you need old with young. By selling off the old more established players. You signal your intent as a club unable to hold its better players. Which means your highly rated younger players are more susceptible to other club's overtures.

If Gueye, Silva or Baxter were good enough they'd have played by now with the goal drought we've been facing - especially as Anichebe has even managed to get a start. If Duffy was up to it he'd have got a run out at centre back instead of Hibbo.

Moyes hasn't done too bad a job of giving youth a chance, he seems to find a fair balance between playing the youngsters and playing it safe. Let's face it - Gosling got plenty of opportunities and he's a bit crap.

I hope to see Bily get a run out now that Pienaar is gone and against bottom club West Ham at home, that's got to be the ideal game to try starting him.

It's going to be interesting to see what type of player, if any, Moyes brings in to replace Yak/Pienaar. With the lack of cash, it's either going to be an aging journeyman or a youngster. I just hope we get someone in who can hit the back of the net. Otherwise May is a long way off.

Chris the problem is you need experienced players to get you out of the championship which is exactly where we're headed with that strategy and the lying charlatan of a chairman.

Doddy #7 you've finally clicked to Billy Bullshitters initials!

Richard #9 Moyes has only ever given youth a chance when he has seen his ridiculously tiny squad ravaged by injuries and suspensions, as an example how long after his Man of The Match cameo against Spurs did it take for Moyes to play Coleman on the right wing despite there being variations of dross tried in the meantime?

It's like the old argument of trust DM he see's them at Finch Farm; well given that, I'd tell him to go to specsavers if he thinks Osman or Bily are wingers then and with Osman he's been trying that failing trick for years.
