Sir Cahill

I have in recent seasons questioned Cahill's too good to be true image and supposed loyalty to the club, his pride in representing Australia and 'doing a Beckham' with his charity work which does no harm for the ol' image.

Having spoken with a sports reporter who spent the last month covering the Asian Cup, he is in fact every bit the guy we all would like to believe him to be; he's the real deal. Will he be leaving Everton any time soon? No chance.

But more to the point... despite his outing yesterday, his ankle is bust, he'll be out for a number weeks.

Nick, I was lucky enough to spend a bit of time with Tim in Asia in the 2007 Asian Cup - when Australia competed for the first time. It was then that he told me he'd just agreed a new contract (and Mikel as well) and he'd pretty much finish his career in the UK with Everton.

He really does appreciate where he came from and how lucky he is, and regards playing for Everton as a privilege. The fact he's paid a fortune is just the nature of the job (albeit a fortunate side effect!)

Bad news about the injury. He's probably gonna end up suffering in later life at this rate.

Nick, you and that sports reporter have repeated my oft used words on TW about Cahill. Only those of us who are domiciled in this land down under can truly describe the depth of feeling and support generated by Timmy.

In my circle of friends, there is a fair number who have no idea what football is all about and could not care less about the game. Except that is, when Cahill's name is comes up. One dinki di old dear told me her entire sewing circle made up of elderly ladies are keen fans of Tim. In fact, most Australians recognise that Everton and Tim's names are synonymous.

Throughout Asia, in front of a sports mad viewing audience of billions, Tim is constantly in demand for media interviews. In every respect he always comes across as a true gentleman. Where football and Everton are concerned, he is proud yet humble about his achievements. What never fails to please this old bluenose is his absolute loyalty and affection for our club.

Regardless of what Tim may or may not accomplish in future he is without doubt the best ambassador this club has ever had.

I agree with this, sometimes you don't have to spend £35M to get what you need. His Everton path is very similar to the great Andy KIng, bought for low fee from lower league, achieved more than expected, scored a few against RS and annoyed the hell out of them to boot!!

I am not too sure about his continued involvement in the current team, time will tell, but he has been a fantastic servant for our club.

As some of the Aussie mafia will know, I have been at times one of Tim's biggest critics with regards his football ability. But one thing i can't knock is the man's devotion. Not only to Everton but to his country and it's people. Top bloke, just wish he could pass a bloody football... (Tongue in cheek, lads.)

Could not agree more.

Great player, exemplary attitude. He deserves to finish his career with a medal. Let's hope it happens at Everton.

Whilst watching EFC v AV with an AV fan in a pub here in snowy Sweden, another lad at the bar, an Arsenal fan, stated that his favourite player in the Prem is TC. That lad has one or two of his own to choose from but no, Cahill is the choice. This says quite a lot about the impression he has made.
