Fellaini contract talks

Not wanting to be pessimistic, or a harbinger of doom... but I'll be absolutely "gobsmacked" if Fellaini extends his contract.
The lad, and/or his advisors aren't daft and after seeing the writing on the wall with Pienaar, the compnay accounts, etc I would hazard a guess that, unless the club is sold, then Fellaini will be the "sale" that allows us to continue... sad but inevitably true I fear.

Just focus on wanting three points this weekend, mate, we are already down in the dumps!
Average players may be happy to stay at a club whose yearly ambition is to finish fourth from bottom of the 'Prem', but any player with ability and ambition will want more. There's no point burying your head in the sand; we now function as a club to maintain the status quo. After 41 years following my club home, away and abroad, I am starting to get very cynical... viva la revolucion!!!
Just because we announce we are offering him one does not mean he will sign it. And with plenty of time to go on his current contract, I feel he himself will be in no rush to sign on the dotted line any time in the near future.
Hope he does sign an extension because, in my opinion, he has been awesome at times this season and will continue to get better the older he gets.
Wish I could've seen Pienaar's face when Kranjcer smashed the winner into the top corner last week. Third choice behind him and Bale, I reckon.
Fellaini, undoubted class... but for who as a regular starter? Good players get a chance at Everton and become better; hopefully Fellaini see's that.
So I see the same thing happening again, especially with Chelsea sniffing. I'm sure Fellaini will want parity with Arteta ? and with good reason, because the lad has been better than Arteta; based on form this season, he should be getting more than our overated maestro.
The lad has the talent to play at the highest level and that won't be anytime soon at Goodison.
The club needs to save the equivalent of £300,000 a week to break even, so where is the extra revenue coming in from???
The chances are he will look elsewhere if a top team or club willing to pay XXX wages wants him. Then again, he does love kissing the badge, doesn't he?
On the bright side, either we get to keep one of the top centre-mids in the country or we get enough money to replace him with quality plus a winger.
First business I want doing in July is a buying a £10-12 million striker with the funds from Pienaar, Yak, Yobo and Vaughan. The accounts show we cannot afford to replace them with four players, so replace with one (wage) striker seems to make business and football sense.
Even it's five out, three in, rather than four out, one in: the wage bill will be healthier.
Mike, I thought that Pienaar had said that it was about ambition and wanting to play in the CL, rather than money. He can't be blamed for that and neither would Fellaini if he chooses to go. Like you, I hope he stays.
We need a Cup run, and Liverpool to get a move on deciding what they will do on a stadium. I reckon Everton FC is waiting on them before any new move of our own.
If Everton could've offered him the money he wanted, I have no doubt he would've stayed.
Crikey... some of you have VERY short memories. If I could be bothered, I'd use the search facility on toffeeweb to find 1000 comments and the general popular consensus about his poor start to his Everton career which lasted about a season and a half.
He's been a good player for most of the current season, and he is finally showing his potential (and let's be fair: his high price tag). I've no doubt he is now an established first team player (wasn't always the case...) and is used to the Premier League and will continue to put in consistent performances.
But a fan's favourite though? Am not sure that really stacks up. That title is far more befitting players such as Cahill, Arteta, Howard.
One swallow does not a summer make.
Expect him to be a fan's favourite next year.
Doom & gloom continues...... here's another able player leaving the ranks !
Am seriously now considering packing it all in.!
Although Arteta has been playing badly this season, how much would you have to spend to replace his creative influence? Anyone better is playing for European big boys.
I won't hold it against him too much if he goes though (providing we get about £20 mill at least, which we should). Let's face it, he has now spent three years at a skint club, he must have greater ambitions than the club can currently realistically provide; he is only human.
Trouble is now twofold: other clubs know we are deep in the shit (worst kept secret in the EPL) and those clubs will take the piss and know we need the money and we will have to take what's on offer.
The worst chairman in 133 years. To any players that leave, I'll not hold any grudge as they'll be holding back the rapidly approaching demise of it if only for another few months.
Truth is that Lescott was sold for £20M+ which did balance the books, but it overlooks the fact that if we had not sold him, we would not have brought in Bily, Heitinga or Distin.
The sad fact is we are living hand to mouth and just about within our means... but, as far as I understand, we are not losing massive amounts of money every year, nor do we need to sell someone significant every year to keep afloat... we only need to do that if Moyes wishes to spend money or increase the wage bill, or if some of our loans get called in.
Not a bright future, but doesn't seem like the end of the world either. Just sad that Moyes is having to break up his squad and rebuild again. And I agree that Felli will probably not wish to stay around even if the club could offer him an improved deal. The guy sounds like he wants to be winning things.
Since the "God" Bracey, I have not seen a better midfield player.
I said it the other night and say it again, pay them both what it takes and sign them on long long term contracts.
People say that the game is won and lost in midfield. Well we will win because the two will grow and overpower all before them.
I also wrote on here a few weeks ago about disposals. If need be then self-finance deals to sort these two and if it means sacrifices then do it. And our highest paid player may be the solution as with the two in centre mid I propose there is no room at the inn.
Sadly if we believe in 4-4-2 then JR and MF with wide players with them means no MA or sadly TC (both not young) then thank them and we move on.
I also agree that Bily may just be able to fill Pienaar's role and with Coleman's development we just could have, that's just could have, a four across the middle for a few years.
I've been worried about TH this season but, last few games, he's been excellent. Rather that than someone making (sorry) Mucha noise about nothing.
"First business I want doing in July is a buying a £10-12 million striker with the funds from Pienaar, Yak, Yobo and Vaughan"
No chance of raising that much money from only those sales, half maybe.
But the thought comes to me, however glorious the past may be, it is still the past and, given our seemingly bleak future, the past is just a nice stroll down memory lane.
The possible futureless less Fellaini and others does nothing for my confidence. >So the only thing is a mixture of one day at a time and head in the sand... Sad innit?
All an extended contract means is there is less chance of Everton losing him for next to nothing at the end of it.
Definitely a favourite as far as this fan is concerned. I would do all I could to keep him and build a team around him.
Sadly he's our most valuable asset on the pitch and as such I suspect its only a matter of time till he moves on. It's very sad indeed that we have come to this position of having to sell our best players just to keep afloat. To think we qualified for the Champions League not that long ago....
These days, as we know, if a player wants to leave a club then the writing is on the wall. I hope he has a storming end to the season for lots of reasons!!... £££££££££££££££
He isn't prepared to sign for longer... He wants to let his contract run for another 18 months before deciding... We can't risk another Pienaar situation so we're cashing in.
I don't foresee any other outcome.
Things like, there is no better defensive - midfielder in the world at the moment.
He would walk into the midfield of any club in the world.
He is worth £30m!
In the case of Felliani, if he doesn't sign this summer, sell him to the highest bidder and move on.
Looking back at the Pienaar situation last summer, the prices quoted were above £10m. Assuming someone would've paid that, did having him for the extra 4½ months really warrant losing around £8m?
He thought he was going to be a star in the World Cup and get offers galore, he stunk the place out and then his slimy agent started singing a different tune, then it was a saving process for the agent to get a little bit of money into his own arse pocket and flogged him around like a whore and, as usual, the lion from the wizard of Oz bit, there was interest at the end from Chelsea but no-one else (that was reported).
