We are averaged about 15 points for the first third of the season and another 15 points the second third so perhaps we might finish on around 45 points, give or take which will probably see us finish above the relegation zone. The really worry for us Evertonians hasn't even started yet... wait until the summer and beyond.

What is so awful about all of this is that absolutely nothing will happen.

Chelsea will knock us out of the Cup. We will struggle in the league: maybe stay up; maybe not... and nothing will happen ? just as it has not happened more or less for the past 20-odd years.

Everton are skint and no-one is interested in the slightest apart from our fantastic supporters, amongst whom there isn't a billionaire to saves us. As far as the media are concerned we aren't even worth a mention.

Why is Moyes so highly rated? Most other fans I know of other clubs think that he is a very negative manager. Generally he has a good eye for a player but tactically he is very limited. I also question his motivational skills, this is illustrated by our ability to beat teams 'when the players feel like it' but not consistently.

I suppose it is all really down to money and as we are now one of the poorest teams in the top flight it only goes to follow that we will leave it without big investment very quickly. It saddens me to see Everton just fading away into the wilderness.

If anyone saw Yakubu's goal for Leicester on the weekend says a lot about the current state of Everton:

Either:

a) we are totally skint and had to let one of our best potential goal scorer go for financial reasons; or
b) Moyes lost it and there was no way back for Yak.

Yak was back and you could see it.

So, I think it is a combination this says alot about Everton at the moment. Sending Yak off for the sake of a few quid and bruised ego isn't a sound business strategy for immediate and future success. In fact, judging by yesterday's performance at Bolton, it is putting the club's very survival in the PL at risk.

Scott I saw Yakubu's goal and it was a belter and a sign of his remaining potential. The phrase used all the time in football but which should be screamed at Everton is that no one is bigger than the club and that includes the manager and the chairman who are only temporary custodians. If it's down to finances then BK has failed again, if it's clash of personalities between Yak and DM then DM should get a swift kick up the arse and his face shoved into the league table.

I fully agree with this article and ever since this season began I have been saying that we have no competition for many places in the squad. Baines, Fellaini and Arteta can play if they like. God help us if Baines gets injured.

Heitinga is awful... can't tackle and the WORST Dutch international I've seen.

Yak scored a great goal for Leicester but did absolutely nothing afterwards. I watched the game and he didn't touch the ball from half-time until his substitution. He does not run off the ball... period !!

Gavin, you must be watching Yak through some sort of tinted specs. The only class striker we have is Saha but he is injury-prone and past his best (otherwise Man Utd would not have let him go). Beckford is very raw but can score goals if partnered with Saha.

The title of this thread: ?It?s all down to Baines as we have no-one else?. How pitiful it is that that is true.

He literally is the only shining light we have this season. Cahill was doing pretty well before that stupid mid-season cup but we?ll see little of him until the end of the season and I can?t make up my mind whether the formation change that Cahill brings about is good or bad. And Saha?s 8 goals are always going to be tarnished with the inevitable injury that soon follows.

Getting back to the title of this thread and the reason we are all so angry is because we believe we should be in a better position, playing more consistently and picking up better results?.BUT WHY?? Is it really all that surprising? Make your peace with it. Yesterday?s performance has been seen as the worst this season but to me it is on a par with quite a few others. Inept and non-creative performances like Bolton are the norm? rather than the exception. Would anyone outside of us blues look at this result and think ?didn?t see that coming? because to me the smart money was on a home win.

Unfortunately we have a group of players who collectively peaked in the second half of the 2009-10 season and collectively slumped thereafter (with the exception of Baines and maybe Fellaini ? though he can still be such a balloon at times).

I have made my peace with the fact that we are an average team with average players who from now on will compete in the lower regions of the league. I have made my peace with the fact that we have a manager who has been very fortunate with a defensive formation that has now been found out and that the expectations he once raised were an illusion. And I have made my peace with the fact that we will NEVER EVER again win the league, gain access to the champions league or win anything of significance (other than promotion from the championship!!)

Oh how I wish that Everton was a girlfriend that I could tell ?it was great while it lasted but let?s just be friends?.

Let?s just look forward to a scattering of good results over the course of the next few seasons because unfortunately my friends that?s as good as its going to get.

Trevor I still think Yak would be a better solution than Anichebe as a striking solution, don't concede and you might get a draw, don't score and you'll never win.
