If Moyes walked or was pushed, then who...?
Comments (76)
Three questions ? realistic/sensible answers please (if possible!):
1) Do you think Moyes will go soon (either by walking or being sacked)? Yes or No?
2) Would you like Moyes to go now? Yes or No?
3) Who ? realistically ? would you like to replace him?
For what it?s worth ? here?s my answers:
1) My guess is ? No ? he won?t walk or be pushed.
2) I would like him to go now ? yes please.
If so ? then Martin O?Neill, please.

There is nobody out there who could do anything useful, given our lack of resources. Given why O'Neill left Villa do you really see him working for Kenwright????
In agreement with what both Joe Royle and Peter Reid stated on Talksport earlier today - I'd be very worried about Everton suffering 'the Charlton effect' if Moyes left.
No
Martin Jol

Jose Mourihno
Can't see the last one happening and why would O'Neill come when he told his last employers to do one when they wouldn't give him money?. To be honest, apart from a wage packet, why would anyone want to come to us?. I am surprised that Moyes hasn't walked yet and judging by his demeanour yesterday, it may not be too long.
No
Can't think of anyone who a) wouldn't be faced with the same problems with regards to ( lack off) financial clout. b) would do any better with the players available or c) isn't currently out of a job for very good reasons ie failure at clubs where often more money has been available....so what makes anyone think they could do better with what's available here?
I'm not saying Moyes is infallible ( tin hat firmly in place) and at times his tactics smack of real panic/desperation - but better the devil and all that.
In my view, its the wrong question being asked - it should be ' would you like the board to pull its finger out and do what we all want....get investment in - or get out?
I suspect a near unanimous response to that one.
Here's another question - even more frightening in its implications - if you were an investor, in the current climate, would you invest in a club with the ground and match day facilities we have - turning over only £22million PER SEASON ( Manure £100 Million, arsenal £90 odd Million, RS £48 Million etc).
Answer - no! No new stadium, no investment - SIMPLES.
No i don't want him to go, my personal feeling is, he has been limited in his ability to by players, yes i know the current team is his, but there has been no real turnover of players in the last couple of years, losing Pienaar was a blow. I really believe he would if given sufficient funds take us forward. But i have reservations about his judgement on high priced players, as he has picked a couple of turds, whether they were his first choice players or whatever, was it wages etc!
and should it come to it, who would i have him replaced with....?
Eddie Howe
No - because the real route of our current problems is not DM's fault. I get as frustrated as anyone with his dour negative tactics but whoever you have as manager will undoubtedly wind you up over something. The fact is DM has done a remarkable job at Everton given that he has only been given net £20m ish to spend in 9 years. When you bear in mind that after 2 years in charge he had a net spend of £12m then this is a startling statistic - net spend £8m in 7 years !!! How has he managed to get us up around the top 6 is bordering on miraculous.
If he were to walk who ? - Eddie Howe, Owen Coyle, Gus Poyet would be my list...
No
With Kenwright - Probably Phil Neville
New owner - I won't get carried away as it will just depress me when it doesn't happen.
2.YES HE'S SHITE!
3.Poyet,Howe,Ince it won't be a top name but an up and comer like these.

Pep Guardiola. He can then bring Messi, Pedro, Villa, Busquets with him with the 3m "blue bill" would no doubt give him to spend. We can then win the Premier League and European cup and FA Cup.
Martin O"Neill left Villa because Randy Learner wouldn't give him any money to spend. Why would he come to Everton? Jesus.
No
Phil Neville :)
Yes I would like him to.
Trouble is if Moyes goes and Kenwright stays we will just get another stooge so it really makes no difference.

Dragan Stojkovic - The Pretender to Wenger. The blind, moaning, lying, old git being the only manager a Moyes-hater could convince me would have been able to do a better job than DM on a Kenwright sized budget.
That said, if Moyes left tomorrow I would bet the house on Allardyce getting the job.
No wonder we're all so fucking fed up... actually, that's it ? let's just get someone who smiles a bit more and looks as though they actually enjoy the job.
Yes
Jol / Coyle or Martinez
A bit left field this one but how about a Reid / Gray combination (puts tin hat on)
Definitely Yes.
Anyone could do a better job at the minute. Jol/Allardyce/Coyle

O'Neill, Martinez, Keane, Bilic.
I think Moyes will go soon because another Bolton performance is a distinct possibility. The bottom 3 is too near for even our board and I think the man's own pride.
Judging by the players attitude the "lost dressing room" rumours will appear and that will be it. My managerial selection is based on CHANGE by strength of character or playing style. At this moment, we simply must have change to breathe new life into us all.
Yes
Hughton, Poyet, Di Mateo, Martinez to be honest anyone. Moyes ha shad 9 years, and in 9 years it's been a cup final and possibly relegation.
Yes
Di Matteo
100 Times No - and anyone who thinks we would be better without him is delusional.
Neville

Me!!
And I never lost to the dark side!!
Not really.
Martinez, di matteo, pellegrino or bilic
After no action in the transfer window it was obvious that Kenwright and Moyes were sticking by their guns and thinking things will improve with what we have. Well they were both dead wrong and most knowledgeable fans are right.
We face the rest of the Prem.season with little confidence and after this Saturday will be lucky if we are still in the Cup.
Enough is enough and a new regime must be brought in.
There are eligible, experienced options out there and it is time to realise that Moyes is not the Messiah we hoped for.
2. No - too late in the season, should have gone earlier if he was going
3. Lambert, Howe, Pellegrini
knowing Kenshite we'll end up with Balloonhead Allardyce
I realise Keane's done nothing but he is explosive and one thing this club needs is a kick up the arse.
He's my desperate shit or bust option, plus I think Goodison in full war cry would mean something to a man like him.
We need a fresh approach with fresh ideas.Whenever we won games like those against City, Liverpool and Spurs we thought we would be turning the corner but they always played a stinker next time out.
Who was responsible for motivation?
David Moyes.
2) I do not really want him to go, although having a probably disgruntled man in charge wouldn't be advisable;
3) Realistic alternatives:
Martin O'Neill (yes, I know he left Villa because they wouldn't give him money to spend, but he may have been promised some, and so will have let because of broken promises, rather than the actual lack of moola);
Big Sam (hope not!),
Eddie Howe
and, my preferred choice Simon Grayson (but if he gets promotion this season he won't leave Leeds, and even if he doesn't he'd probably stick with them).
Overall I still rate Moyes positively but he may now lack the motivation to carry on.
No
Rafa
Yes ? his recent comments sound like he's already given up the fight with almost a third of the season left.
Almost any half-decent manager could work with the current squad & have sufficient impact to save us from the drop. Assuming the current Board are still running the club (into the ground!), then they'd probably try & fail to lure Jones & settle for somebody like Reid. Not ideal, but it still might be the difference between survival & relegation (along with the ensuing administration that could neatly set us up for another drop next season). The Board, the manager & half of the players seem to have been here too long & we seem to be back were we were a few years ago, but carrying a lot more debt.
2. Yes.
3. Ian Holloway.
2. No
3. Peter Reid, bring the King Kenny factor to Goodison.
People need to realise that no manager could remain positive under the conditions that Moyes is working under. Are you aware that he didn't want to let Yak and Vaughn go out on loan, it was a financial decision.
A new manager is pointless until we get a new board so stop wasting time on Moyes out and focus on getting Kenwright and Co out.
No
I have no idea but some of the suggestions I have read are astounding. It all depends on who is in charge. Do we have money, don't we?
if we do then a manager who has experience of working with a better class of player is a must, and vice versa.
Yes
Di Matteo, Villa Boas
Maybe, probably not - Something needs to be freshened up. Ideally, new owners with big bankrolls and a new stadium. Failing that, some new players - we need to use the money that we get from the almost inevitable sale of at least Fellaini in the summer to bring in a top-class striker above all. There is a gaping quality void at the top of the team whenever Saha is injured or unfit (ie most of the time). But if Moyes isn't up to making some tough decisions or his heart isn't in it given our parlous financial state, maybe he should go.
I'm not sure we would get anyone better, to be honest. Maybe Jol, O'Neill or Houghton would be decent replacement options, or there might be good options in the lower leagues that I don't know about.
2. No
3. Dr Who - because we're going to need a time traveller to bring back the successes of the past if DM goes before a new stadium or new board.
No.
Chirs Hughton, Dave Jones
Being shot seems a bit harsh from a fellow blue...go on, give us a smile.
No
There's a guy called Eddie Howe at Burnley whose record is incredible. He took Bournemouth up in his first job and could yet get Burnley up in half a season.
Other than that, Paul Lambert, (our previous manager taken from Norwich did really well!) and also Simon Grayson would merit consideration.
No
Glen Hoddle
2) Yes - beacause I think his tactics are predictable, negative and boring. I think that he stifles the creative players in the squad.
3) David Jones - to keep Cardiff City in the hunt for promotion to the Premier League, with the threat of winding up orders in the background is a great achievement.
2) No
3) Zero
Alan Curbishley is an almost exact replica to what is happening with Moyes.
He did a great job with Charlton, stabilised the club but ultimately could not compete financially with the clubs above. Eventually that fans said he has took the club as far as he can and we need someone to take the club to the next level, he was let go and the rest is history, they were relegated never to be seen in top flight football again.
What do you think he can do with Everton that he couldn?t do with Charlton exactly?
People don?t seem to have any common sense or logic on here.
2. No

Me arl fella
The point is not that the managers were sacked but the style of football that they encouraged. Southgate at Middlesbrough played with a 4-3-3 formation. Can you imagine Moyes doing that? Coleman at Fulham also did inventive stuff with a lot less than Moyes.
Others have hammered the point to death: Moyes is incapable of raising his game above mid-table mediocrity.
