I think the word bollocks sums it up. Allegedly Moyes is refusing to talk after the game because he's so incensed about the refereeing decisions? - including talking to the Official website!!! (inc. Everton TV!!!)

Someone needs to tell Moyes football is , at the end of the day, meant to be ENTERTAINMENT. This means catering to the punters who turn out, listen, watch or log on. Mind you his team selection today shows how highly he rates entertaining the punters.

If he doesn't like talking to the media , he should just "Do One". If it wasn't for the Sky money, he wouldn't be on his extremely generous salary in the first place.

The ref decisions weren't brilliant but they also weren't the worst we've seen this season and either way doesn't change the fact Moyes's tactics fucked up again and gave a team regularly conceding goals this season that we had come looking for a draw through anti-football.

A striker who hadn't scored all season against such a shit defence and players all over the place again despite him having seen a different line-up take the game to Man Shitty last week. Mind-numbing, he needs to fucking man up and face the music, we were shite and that was his line, his tactics, his team.

Watched "highlights" on MotD. Never a sending-off offence, even the baggies player he clogged didn't think it was. Anichebe had two good chances and on another day with another goalie would have scored. That said, we have apparently conceded first in our last four games. Roll on Chelsea!

Moyes chucking his toys out the pram yet again. Grow up, fool. The game was lost even with eleven men. Perhaps Moyes should analyse some of his shit signings and why he persists in playing them instead of the likes of Gueye and Vellios who aren't given fairer opportunities. What's the point of having them as constant bench warmers? Don't have them on the bench if you're not going to use them ? he should instead just name four subs each week.

My mate was in a pub in town yesterday talking to Sheedy who was with all the lads who had just won the Academy League, he was lauding some of the crackers we have coming through; my thoughts were "So what?" What chance do they have with old negative arse?

If ever there was a day to give Gueye a chance, it was yesterday... yet he plays with seven defenders and a lad on his own up front who has not scored for 18 months ? and the media tells us he is too good a manager for us.

Thomas should've walked for a second yellow on Hibbo but the ref bottled it in front of a home crowd, then Bily does a similar tackle on Morrison and the ref gives in to the crowd's jeers for a red.

Up untill then, we were controlling it without really going anywhere. Bily missed a sitter. We were fucking shite though, the entire back four were cack, Baines included.

Doesn't Mr Moyes ever learn from his mistakes? He starts games looking for a draw, waiting till half-time or even later to make changes and be more offensive. What a difference and refreshing it was to see attacking players on the pitch last week and having a real good go... Why oh why can't we have this from the start of matches???

In all his decisions, Moyes hovers between ordinary and mediocre; the team reflects this and this latest judgement ? aping Fergie ? just looks naff, but we're kings of the Prem survivors and a huge swathe of supporters think it's marvellous.

We need someone extraordinary to deal with the disparity of the new monied armies and Moyes is not that man: it's not his fault ? he is what he is and when he goes to Villa I'll remember fondly the progress culminating in Champions League qualification and forget the rest ? he deserves that.

But he's several seasons past his Everton sell-by date and I cringe when his despairing visage and uninspiring opinion appears in the media and can't help thinking how many players think the same.

I wonder was it the officials' display that made Moyes refuse to to speak to the TV and radio? Or was it the dispirited performance by certain players in what was another poor all-round performance by the team?

Watching our defence in the build-up to the goal, was nothing less than suicidal. One reporter described Distin as having a bottle of San Miguel in one hand, and trying to put his flip flops on with the other!

He was not alone in the dire performance, we had no idea up front, and although we created a couple of chances, we never really threatened.

And so to the last game of what has been a very disappointing season. If rumour has it, there will a some players leaving, I just hope that whoever we can afford, are better than what we have at present. But thats what being a Evertonian is all about ? HOPING!

McCarthy, Holloway and Martinez have all come on TV after poor refereeing decisions have landed them in deep trouble. Moyes is happy to do it when it suits him. He should do it when it doesn't.

We have had a problem with our strikers all season but does Moyes help himself? We have a forward with an attitude who has not scored for over a year and has not scored many in the six years he has been in the first team squad. We have another one with an attitude but one who has a goals per minutes on the pitch ratio second to none: which one do you pick?

For all Beckford's flaws, he can score goals and he should have been starting every game till the season ends but Moyes got all stubborn at Wolves with him. Well, sorry, Davey ? a player can run all day for you, but we prefer goals.

And speaking of defensive football ? DM has got to realise by now that the formation isn't working, if the idea is to keep it tight and nick one, well we rarely keep a clean sheet and it means that we're chasing the game with second-rate attackers.

Compare that with SAF: yesterday they needed a point to win the title, at 1-1 he kept fdour attackers high up the field and gambled that Blackburn wouldn't throw men forward in case they got hit on the break and lost a precious point.

IMO, managers fall into two categories; cavaliers and roundheads. SAF, ?Arry, Guadiola etc are cavaliers, while Moyes, the special one, Mancini etc are roundheads. Both types can play winning football but, as Mancini and Mourinho have proved, just because they?ve got access to oodles of Wonga doesn?t make them change their footballing philosophy.

Anything he says gets 'analysed' by fans until it encapsulates his negative attitude, how terrible he is as a manager, and what a pathetic state the club is in nowadays. If I was him I wouldn't bother saying anything either.

Having said that, there's very little chance of defending him yesterday when he picked seven defenders in a starting XI.

I would disagree with one of Colin's premisses though. Sport is not 'meant to be entertainment'. Sport is sport, not entertainment, not business and not any of the other things people compare it to. Football takes place regardless of whether or not anyone is watching it, and it wasn't invented in order to entertainment, it was invented as a sporting contest. The fact that people often find it entertaining is a secondary consideration, and the entertainment derives from the fact that teams try to win using whatever means or tactics they see fit. Therefore praising one team or condemning another as being more or less 'entertaining' is to fundamentally misunderstand football. Its true entertainment value derives naturally through competition, not through a specific desire to entertain.

Mike, amateur football is a sport, given that it's now a global televised phenomenon and those funds actually pay for it, then it has become a form of entertainment even more. The fans and supporters that have been attending since it first started don't go to join in they go to be entertained by the competition on display. Without the fans and television it would fade back into an amateur sport, without spectators it's pointless.

Just a quick point about a line in the OP: I don't believe that "football is , at the end of the day, meant to be ENTERTAINMENT". Football is firstly a competitive sport. Anything else has attached itself later, whether that is business, celebrity, fans, or entertainment. The issues surrounding these add-ons are secondary to the principals of the sport.

In this case, yesterday, the football laws and their interpretation, and the subsequent decision to keep private the ensuing discussion of, take priority over the 'need' to share this with the press.

Sorry, that's not quick at all. I tried!

Will someone please tell me what Moyes sees in Anichebe?

I have been an Everton fan all my life, and supported Moyes, but I can't get my head round this one at all. Anichebe HASN'T SCORED all season!!! He has hardly ever scored in the top flight, with hours and hours of chances and playing time.

The player really aggravates me, especially when he falls over, and puts his hands on his head. Just his constant moaning and body language and expressions. Whether he is good in training is irrelevant; if you are a striker and can't score goals under pressure then you are not a Premier League player.

I feel so angry about this because we have someone on the bench who had the greatest return of goals for minutes on the pitch in the Premier League. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN!!!

Tony, the worrying thing about shop window for Anichebe is that it would have to be a lower league side and desperate at that to want to buy a striker that doesn't actually score goals. Fair play to the lad in that he doesn't choose the squad or to offer himself a contract but it doesn't detract from his inability to do what he is paid to do.

We've not had the argument of players at his disposal etc on this thread but he does in Gueye and Vellios and Beckford to at least offer a more attacking formation. I'd be happier going down battling than to have as many useless shots and shown up by a piss-poor defensive side.

Tony (#22) ? I think people would like Neville to shut up & do his talking on the pitch, I?m sure his comments such as labelling us as Matalan United do not endear his comments to the fans either. I certainly do not believe people expecting Moyes to come out to a press conference after a game is hypocritical to wanting Neville to shut up.

Moyes as the Everton manager has a responsibility to communicate to the fans, his actions after the WBA game show a complete lack of respect to the Everton faithful. Our latest loss to WBA needs an explanation from the manager or at least his views on the game, if Moyes blames the referee for yesterday, who was at fault when we lost 4-1 at home to the mighty WBA? It surely can?t have been the Moyesiah?s fault...

Question - what did Moyes see in the Team that won in the second half last week, that made him change it AGAIN!!!!

We won, played good football and got the place rocking.

Unbelivable team selection. More and more players will be thinking no future here. We are off.

With Anichebe, he was even threatening to wind his contract down, after all Everton had done for him. He would have gone on a free. He has no loyalty. He reminds me of a very poor Emile Heskey, who cannot score. He is clumsy, terrible first touch, terrible pass completion.

I just think Moyes's weak points throughout his career have been strikers. He always gets the best out of defenders and midfield, but can't seem to tactically get the best out of, or even know his best strikers.

He goes on about work rate, but I think he is completely wrong on that point. Too many games especially early this season we ran and worked and came away with nothing.

I support any manager and/or player who makes a stand against the disgraceful standard of refereeing in this country.

When I watch European games, I see nothing as low as the standard I see here every week. When you watch the Premier League on TV, you see at least one match-changing decision almost every game based on the incompetence and arrogance of the officials.

They can't even get the basics right. They pace a wall back ten metres, turn around and everyone shuffles forward. Goalkeepers one or two paces off their line when penalties are taken. Throw-ins from the wrong place (ten yards in some cases). Defenders wrestling forwards from corners. Goals given when the ball has not crossed the line, 2 minutes injury time when six subs have been used etc, etc, etc.

All we get are excuses from the media, excuses from the FA. Nobody at the weak and corrupt FA does anything. .

Moyes isn't a manager, he's a coach. He's not capable of making big decisions. Nobody want's to invest in a club with a such a dour manager, who has made perfectly obvious he'll never win anything.

His pathetic tactics in the FA Cup Final, his defensive tactics v Wigan at home... He has to go this season, along with BK. I think he's a good coach but I worry about the effect he'll leave on the club after he's left.

Just a quick question I would like to put forward for debate. I have come to the thinking that there can only be ONE reason why Big Vic is getting the nod for the last half dozen games or so of the season.

Moyes and the club have just tied him down to a new contract and in my opinion I think they are now putting him in the shop window to showcase his talents ? or lack of... depending on how you see him. Come the end of the season, I can see him being sold to the highest bidder.

I for one would accept anything for him and this is why I think he has had an extended run in the team.
