Steve Round Off?

Heard on TalkSport this morning that Steve "wally with the brolly" McClaren is the favourite for the West Ham job and, if so, Steve Round is lined up as his number 2. They worked together at Middlesbrough and I wondered what impact (if any) that would have on us?
I don't think he seems to bring a lot to the table and this may give us a chance to change things, get someone new in etc... Or would Moyes just play safe and employ Alan Irvine again?

TalkSport produces tripe so I wouldn't expect Round to be off anyway anytime soon.
Why anyone would want to move away from a well established Prem club to one in the Championship is beyond me.

Question you need to ask is why didn't Shteevee Mcboring take him to any of the other clubs he was manager at?
Can they take Moyes as well?
Or a return for Alan Irvine?

The desired outcome is, I believe, that Round leaves. That therefore is the least likely to happen.
I thought about both Neville and Stubbsy too, Richard, I still think we missed a trick when Steve Clarke was available after leaving Chelsea, now the Shite have him.
Steve "Flavour of the month" Clarke didn't do so well at Newcastle or West Ham.
He did at Chelsea when Mourinho ruled the roost and has at Liverpool once they had nothing to play for ? but they often do that don't they?
I feel that we need freshening up big time in the coaching department, in mindset as much as anything. Unfortunately, I don't see anything changing.

After Grant, West Ham will go for Dangermouse, Penfold or that white creature that crawled along the ground, they couldn't do any worse.
Furthermore, anything 'TalkShite' comes up with is hardly a reliable source, I don't listen to that if I can help it, I can see McClaren actually getting the Boleyn Job, but anything more seems a bit far-fetched.

There is a Boro fan at work. Fans didn't like Round due to his negative tactics outlook. He won't be working with McClaren again he tells me. If Round left to go anywhere, he will be replaced by another ex-defender. It made me think would Big Vic's progress been any better with an attacker on the coaching staff? Guess we'll never know.
How about a "temporary" summer job for Glen Hoddle? Advising on possible signings and doing a bit of coaching. In no way would this be intended to undermine David Moyes; after all, his record speaks for itself.

Hoddle has his own academy in Spain trying to improve players who have been let go by their own League clubs and eventually finding them a new club (for a fee). Would he give up his business to go back into management?
I think our football as suffered since Round as been Number 2; the way we set up off the ball and don't close down is a lot to do with him as we were never like that when Irvine was second in command.
When not in possesion of the ball and defending, we seem to drop back in and have two banks of four or a four and a five sittng off the opposition and inviting pressure instead of closing down and defending higher up the pitch.
I see every other Premier League team get their team shape and close down high up the pitch in packs and we seem to be the only team that, when it isn't in possession of the ball, gets men back in our own half, have our two banks of DFs & MFs and then sit off instead of getting in the opposition's faces.
I mean we have everybody back in our own box defending a corner, we don't have one single player or two up either on the half-way line or touchline to give the opposition something to worry about if or when we clear our lines and have a chance to break. Instead, when it is cleared straight to the opposition, we're put back under pressure as it drops to the opposite side and they put the ball back into the box.
And our football and movement at times is so slow it looks very amateurish at best; after a few of passes it either goes sideways, backwards, long or gets taken off us easily, or we give the ball away cheaply and we're under the cosh again so easily just by a lack of spark and imagination in our play.
We really do need to work on our football and movement, to up it a pace and learn to be patient when in possesion, instead of being impatient and going back and then long in a matter of passes. Our play as got to improve upon the dire, slow play we conjure up at the moment that, more often than not, resorts to long-ball stuff like we do a lot at present.
I do feel as though Steve Round's coaching ability is showing up in us at present, on and off the ball. If he left, which I doubt, I wouldn't be too bothered to be honest... why not promote from within and give Stubbsy the assistant's role? I've seen the reserves a few times this season ? his team likes to get the ball down and play with good movement and they do close down and get in the oppositions faces. With him being an Evertonian, he would drum into the players the spirit and fight to play for the royal blue of Everton, IMO!

Aidy, I agree with you about the passion of Stubbs but, even for allowing that reserve teams results are 90% irrelevant, the other 10% are pretty poor.
Ray, I reckon Hoddle would give it all up for one more chance. I would pose this question to everyone on Toffeeweb:
What would give you more of a buzz this summer. Moyes to Villa and Hoddle to Everton? Or , err... same as fucking usual?

I was always impressed by Hoddle the player and also the style of football his sides tried to play... although,it has to be said, his success rate is probably worse than Moyes.

He was doing quite well with England and quite well at Southampton then flopped at Spurs!
If we want Moyes replacing surely we should want someone proven or someone young and on the up.

Glenn Hoddle? His teams play football that's attractive on the eye but gets you draws all the way. Got kicked out of the WC in the second round. Got Tottenham nowhere higher as 9th - and even back then they were splashing money around. Managed to keep Wolves out of the play offs by drawing too much and scoring too little.
They only real positive about Hoddle is that he has a good cup record. I would like to win a cup for once...

Graeme Sharp works for me as Moyes assistant manager. A Forward who won cups and League with EFC. An International with management experience.

If Steve Round does do one in the summer, then Moyes would probably take the safe option and invite Alan Irvine back to reclaim his role as Nodding Dog No 1.
In my opinion, the assistant's job needs to go to someone with a completely different character to the dour, depressing, downbeat man in charge. Someone a bit more upbeat, who can throw an arm around a struggling player, who can lighten the mood, and generally has a more positive fucking outlook on the game. Then again, he needs to be able to dish out a bollocking when required and also be prepared to put his own opinions across to Moyes instead of just sitting there in silence and scribbling into a fucking notebook.
Sod it, I say get Peter Reid.

Unless they were a defender in a previous life forget it, he has Stubbs in, has sounded out Weir and has Neville on the payroll already. He'd have a brain haemorrhage talking to a strike minded coach never mind employing one.
Glenn Hoddle would be a master stroke! He would even be the best player at the club! (He could replace Arteta.) With him as manager, we could employ tactics for games instead of hoof ball to shit strikers!
