Stanley Park Lease
47 Comments: First | Last
I read in the Echo yesterday that Liverpool's lease for the Stanley Park site expires in September.
Does anyone know the FACTS about the lease and whether we would be able to take a lease of the site once LFC's lease expires?
I know we can't afford to pay for the stadium BUT if we paid for the lease, then that would add a lot to the value of the club. If Kenwright really wanted to sell us, then he could do so more easily unless he gets the cash register eyes.
Again more openness needed from the Club.

What makes you think we can afford paying for the lease?
I read comments in the Liverpool Echo from Joe Anderson - City Council leader and it would appear that the council is continuing to bend over backwards to facilitate resolving the issue of the shite's stadium. Same old, same old, however look on the bright-side I have just been down to Goodison today and they have two pallets of bricks and appear to be getting ready to repair the gaping hole in the park end wall. Progress hey........
A) We probably can't afford the lease due to the club not having a pot to piss in. See our inability to buy/obtain so called 'free' players let alone ones with fee's attached to them.
B) What would be the point anyway, other than to upset the neighbours?
C) Is this generally public information? (I don't claim to know one way or another)
Peter, the sky money must have come in, two pallets? Wow, there goes the transfer kitty...
@ Pete #2,
Does that count as Redeveloping GP?
I haven't seen the old lady looking as crestfallen as today, it was a truly sorry site to behold. In previous years, the place has been given a bit of a spruce up, new banners and a bit of paintwork etc. The hole in the Park End wall is still there but, as I say, a couple of pallets of bricks ready to patch it up.
Still no official word on the shelved Park End development, Park Place or whatever it was supposed to be called. I guess the KEIOC guys were on the money with the freehold / lease issues. The whole club from top to bottom is looking very tired and neglected,; very sorry state of affairs.
I'm confused, why do our board have to be more open about Liverpool's Lease?
Don't know zip about the Stanley Park question but mildly related I think the neighbouring americans are hankering for a ground share but won't admit it - yet.
They've thrown the kitchen sink, financially speaking, at the RS a shit or bust go at CL money - fair play - but if it falls over thats more tourist pounds flitting to the Mancs and Chels and they're down a shed load.
The attraction of halving costs on a new ground must be compelling to the yanks.
Aspiration has collapsed here and there's even signs of reality across the park - they're not quite so cocky these days.
I reckon someone mooting a 50k stadium with provision for expansion as a groundshare will bring both parties to the table.
I bet they are the wrong colour bricks.
The reason why the Council bend over backwards to accomodate the LFC is simple: LFC keeps this city afloat during the winter, wether we like to say it or not.
Whenever the Shite play at home, you cannot get a hotel room anywhere in the town center, either budget or top notch. The bars are all full... so too the restaurants. Taxi drivers are busy, so too the pubs, cafes, vendors of all description. Town is buzzing and money is being spent.
Easyjet is booming so is Speke Airport, the trains, coaches, taxis etc etc ? all having a field day. For the past 40 years, LFC has brought an annual influx of foreign travellers both supporting the Reds and watching their own teams in Europe. More money spinners for the local economy. Only today I passed the Kop and it was buzzing with people. Packed car park, Coaches everywhere and the local shops full.
5 minutes later at Goodison and it's dead as graveyard!? What extra revenue would we generate if we had a new ground on Stanley Park? Fuck all ?that's what.
It's business ? pure and simple... and we as a club in a business sense are a JOKE... Why should LCC help us again after BK's shenanigans over Kings Dock? Even now, Bill's skullduggery back then is killing us. Would you trust him again? ? because I wouldn't.
The City council, like it or not, know Liverpool FC helps this city survive and will do whatever it takes to keep the Golden Goose alive... and you can take that to the bank.
It is a sad state of affairs when they cannot even give the place a lick of paint and its anual new flags, I was even praying for some nice new blue gravel around the side of the pitch, you will probably see kemwright down the dock road claiming £1.50 back for his pallet, if you don't laugh you end up crying, what a bloody mess we are in.
I'm amazed we got the bricks. I thought we'd declare an interest, and then let someone else come in and take them... Eventually buying an overpriced breezeblock none of use have heard of at 23:50 on deadline day.
Careful Mark - don't alert the Red Shite to the breezeblock. Moyes has been tracking that lad all summer.
Ha!
Too late, we've been beaten to the signature as usual.
Kenwright on SSN now - "We were close to doing something pretty special, but the lad wanted to go somewhere else, and you can't tell them".
'When you see the type of pallets they are, you will go WOW!!'
My eldest lad ? both of my lads have gone over to the dark side (show mercy on their souls) ? tells me that they have set up yet another campaign group and this one states that 'the council are not giving them the help they deserve'. They have no shame, do they?
Trevor #9 all they have spent this summer is the normal budget plus the extra they get from the shirt deal ? little compared to what Henry spent on baseball contracts. They will need Champions League football but I don't think they would fall over without it. Which is a shame as would love to see the fuckers sink.
Oh and they have not had to pay off a manager this summer.
Those two pallets of bricks will be like 2 new signings for us.
Good one Robert!
I confess, when 'honest' Bill Kenwright told us to "watch this space", I didn't realise he meant the space in the Park End wall.
I wish we would just bloody groundshare and have done with it. If the council were willing to pump a bit of money in, along with what naming rights the stadium could generate with it being both Liverpool and Everton, it could cost next to nothing, if not nothing, to build the thing! Other than pride, what's the problem?
Costing nothing for either club is what I meant to say.
The bricks are on a one-year loan deal as long as we pay for the cement.
That's why they're still on the pallet!!!
Craig, the money for the cement is ring-fenced, have no doubts! Just watch this space...
to all intents and purposes the bricks don't belong to the club as it was apparently a sale and leaseback deal. Makes sound business sense as this now frees up much needed short term working capital.
Erik, when Honest Bill was talking about a ring-fenced deal, maybe he meant the fence to fill in the gap in the Park End wall?
According to my sources, BK has been working 24/7 to get these bricks.
What space are we to watch next after the wall gets rebuilt?
Also Henry, what openess do you want?
After Barton's wage demands have been met there might be some dosh left for the cement!
The delay is due to the job being outsourced to Kitbag.
Apprently the Yak was supposed to doing the brickwork on Monday... but he took the wrong turn on the motorway and ended up in Birmingham. Shame.
What's all this about no screens at the Villarreal game? The club is so piss poorly run that they can't finish renovations before the ONLY pre-season home game.
And why so few home pre-season games? Surely that's a money spinner!
Bill is searching 24/7 for a brickie who will invest in the wall.
Phil Neville is on Sky Sports News right now. Saying how pleased he is to have some new bricks. He things we already have a strong wall though and it'll take some time for the new bricks to bed in. Being young bricks you shouldn't put too much pressure on them.
Best. thread. ever.

Apparently Alan Hansen has just said on Radio 5..."You'll never win anything with bricks"..watch this effing space!
It's all a big misunderstanding!
Moyesey told Bill Tim Howard could organise a wall in no time.
The fella in the Goodison Supper Bar reckons his mate who knows the new physio reckons Moyes has had them bricks watched at least four times.
Apparently Newcastle and Tottenham were in for them.
Harry Redknapp has got wind of the availability of the two young pallets of bricks and they've decided the're future lies in London sitting on the bench.
At least getting the bricks in now gives them a little time to settle in before the start of the new season. I wonder how many installments we are paying for them?
I also heard from a reliable source that moyes has been given the green light by Kenwright to sign the highly talented young chinese prospect from the K-League named No-Foo-Kin-Wan.

Breaking news! Ageing rock star Roger Waters is threatening to sue the club on blatant copyright infringement. Through his official spokesperson, Waters came pulled no punches, "If that bloody Kenwright geezer puts another twatting brick in that bleeding wall, I'll take him the effing cleaners"...
Steve Round commented that the bricks have missed a lot of pre-season as they were frozen out by previous club, "English Flemish Bond" and will be put on a special coursing to gain stamina - "David will use them sparingly and they will have to fight for their places, but we expect big things from these bricks as they are both good 'headers' and they could go all the way to representing the english garden wall bond team in time"
Bill's gardener reckons he seen the Dixie statue in bed with Jenny......... Rumours Bill was in the wardrobe are unsubstantiated.
Moyes has discovered, post-signing, that the bricks cannot head a football. Back to Italy they go!
Media reports are in that an arrest has finally been made as to the vandal who destroyed a large section of the Park End Wall at Goodison Park.
Initial reports that Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright had bricks removed to reflect the "new openness at Goodison Park" or as a misguided attempt to create more unobstructed views of the pitch at the cash-strapped club have proved unfounded.
A source at Merseyside Police confirmed CCTV footage led to an arrest of an Everton player apparently practicing freekicks in Walton Lane.
"I obviously cannot reveal the identity of the player," the source said, "but he is an Everton midfielder, and he is Spanish. A wall can only take so much abuse," our source admitted ruefully.
The bricks have been on Twitter saying that ' the clubs ambitions don't match theirs and they have had a better offer from B and Q to form the base of a barbecue. This is an important role that that offered by EFC and we don't want to be just another brick in the wall'.
Did I say two pallets of bricks? My spelling is getting worse...
Blame the Board; that's the way.
You musy have gone completely mad mate.
Blame the manager for buying shite like Billy and Fellaini with the money that the Board HAS made available of the past few years.
Rubbish and fuck all to look forward to AGAIN.
