Stanley Park Lease
47 Comments: I read in the Echo yesterday that Liverpool's lease for the Stanley Park site expires in September.
Does anyone know the FACTS about the lease and whether we would be able to take a lease of the site once LFC's lease expires?
I know we can't afford to pay for the stadium BUT if we paid for the lease, then that would add a lot to the value of the club. If Kenwright really wanted to sell us, then he could do so more easily unless he gets the cash register eyes.
Again more openness needed from the Club.

I read comments in the Liverpool Echo from Joe Anderson - City Council leader and it would appear that the council is continuing to bend over backwards to facilitate resolving the issue of the shite's stadium. Same old, same old, however look on the bright-side I have just been down to Goodison today and they have two pallets of bricks and appear to be getting ready to repair the gaping hole in the park end wall. Progress hey........
A) We probably can't afford the lease due to the club not having a pot to piss in. See our inability to buy/obtain so called 'free' players let alone ones with fee's attached to them.
B) What would be the point anyway, other than to upset the neighbours?

I haven't seen the old lady looking as crestfallen as today, it was a truly sorry site to behold. In previous years, the place has been given a bit of a spruce up, new banners and a bit of paintwork etc. The hole in the Park End wall is still there but, as I say, a couple of pallets of bricks ready to patch it up.
Still no official word on the shelved Park End development, Park Place or whatever it was supposed to be called. I guess the KEIOC guys were on the money with the freehold / lease issues. The whole club from top to bottom is looking very tired and neglected,; very sorry state of affairs.

They've thrown the kitchen sink, financially speaking, at the RS a shit or bust go at CL money - fair play - but if it falls over thats more tourist pounds flitting to the Mancs and Chels and they're down a shed load.

I reckon someone mooting a 50k stadium with provision for expansion as a groundshare will bring both parties to the table.

The reason why the Council bend over backwards to accomodate the LFC is simple: LFC keeps this city afloat during the winter, wether we like to say it or not.
Whenever the Shite play at home, you cannot get a hotel room anywhere in the town center, either budget or top notch. The bars are all full... so too the restaurants. Taxi drivers are busy, so too the pubs, cafes, vendors of all description. Town is buzzing and money is being spent.
Easyjet is booming so is Speke Airport, the trains, coaches, taxis etc etc ? all having a field day. For the past 40 years, LFC has brought an annual influx of foreign travellers both supporting the Reds and watching their own teams in Europe. More money spinners for the local economy. Only today I passed the Kop and it was buzzing with people. Packed car park, Coaches everywhere and the local shops full.

It is a sad state of affairs when they cannot even give the place a lick of paint and its anual new flags, I was even praying for some nice new blue gravel around the side of the pitch, you will probably see kemwright down the dock road claiming £1.50 back for his pallet, if you don't laugh you end up crying, what a bloody mess we are in.
I'm amazed we got the bricks. I thought we'd declare an interest, and then let someone else come in and take them... Eventually buying an overpriced breezeblock none of use have heard of at 23:50 on deadline day.

Trevor #9 all they have spent this summer is the normal budget plus the extra they get from the shirt deal ? little compared to what Henry spent on baseball contracts. They will need Champions League football but I don't think they would fall over without it. Which is a shame as would love to see the fuckers sink.

I wish we would just bloody groundshare and have done with it. If the council were willing to pump a bit of money in, along with what naming rights the stadium could generate with it being both Liverpool and Everton, it could cost next to nothing, if not nothing, to build the thing! Other than pride, what's the problem?

A source at Merseyside Police confirmed CCTV footage led to an arrest of an Everton player apparently practicing freekicks in Walton Lane.
"I obviously cannot reveal the identity of the player," the source said, "but he is an Everton midfielder, and he is Spanish. A wall can only take so much abuse," our source admitted ruefully.
