Everton agree to Duffy loan extension

Everton have agreed to Scunthorpe United's request to keep the defender on loan for another month.

Duffy joined the Iron on transfer deadline day on an initial month's loan but manager Alan Knill has been sufficiently impressed by the young Irishman that he asked to keep him until the end of October.

Everton hope that Duffy will grow from increased exposure to first-team football. His opportunities at Goodison have been limited given the form and fitness of first-choice pairing Sylvain Distin and Phil Jagielka, not to mention back-up John Heitinga.
