Everton Reserves beat their Sunderland counterparts 2-0 at Finch Farm on Tuesday afternoon. Newly re-signed forward Jamie McFadden partnered Denis Stracqualursi in the goaless first half; both were replaced at half-time, the Stracq carrying an injury.

Also in the team, as promised by David Moyes , was Ross Barkley, playing alongside Magaye Gueye, who seems to have slipped off the first-team subs bench.

The goals came through an own-goal and a strike by Conor McAleny
