Sampdoria snap up Mustafi on a free

Italian club Sampdoria have confirmed the acquisition of defender Shkodran Mustafi from Everton.

Originally snapped up by David Moyes from SV Hamburg as a promising option for the future, the 19-year-old hasn't been able to get near the first team, making just one senior appearance for the Blues in the Europa League defeat to BATE Borisov at Goodison Park a couple of years ago.

Although his contract doesn't expire until June, a private arrangement between Everton and Sampdoria allowed the German U-20 international to move to Italy on a free transfer.
