James Wallace to try out League 1

After completing a rather unsuccessful two month loan spell at League 2 Shrewsbury Town in December, Everton Reserves midfielder James Wallace has 'gained promotion' to League 1 in the form of a new month-long loan deal with Stevenage.

The initial signs were that Wallace would extend his stop-start two month loan from Everton until the end of the season. But the 20-year-old has now grasped the opportunity to step up a level as he joins League One promotion chasers Stevenage on a one-month deal.

It brings to an end Wallace's fragmented stint at the Greenhous Meadow, in which he has been limited to just 59 minutes of football. A sending off on his debut at Dagenham led to a three-match suspension while he was also prevented from playing in the FA Cup by Everton.

The England under-20 midfielder also suffered a bout of illness and injury niggles during his stay.
