Donovan down with a bit of the flu

Landon Donovan could be forced to miss out on his planned Everton farewell after David Moyes confirmed he is a doubt for tomorrow's FA Cup 5th Round meeting with Blackpool: "Unfortunately he's got a bit of the flu which he's picked up and he'll be a doubt for the game on Saturday."

The American will return to LA Galaxy next week after completing another successful two-month spell at Goodison Park, where he has become a significant contributor with assist for the Blues' goals.

Moyes is full of admiration for the job undertaken by the 29-year-old attacker but concedes that his plans to sign off his second Everton spell in style are slightly precarious due to a bout of flu.

He said: "I think Landon's done terrific in his spell here. He's been involved in assists, good team performances and I think it was a bit like the last time he was here.

"We won some big games at that period and he's come in and done the same. We'll be sad to see him go but we'll be thankful for him the way he's conducted himself off the pitch and how he's performed on the pitch."
