Everton sign Nike kit deal

Deal less about windfall than global reach
Everton have signed a three-year kit deal Nike, starting from next season. The sportswear giant takes over from Le Coq Sportif and will be the official and recognised technical partner on all of Everton's match and training kits.

Everton's new deal, negotiated in close collaboration with the existing retail and merchandise partner Kitbag, is the first with Nike.

It is understood the contract with the global sportswear empire is along similar financial lines to the existing one which is about to end and there will be little difference in terms of up-front income. However, where Everton hope to benefit is the utilisation of Nike's worldwide reach in order to widen their market base.

A number of stories repeat the claim that the deal comes with a £10M windfall but this is unsubstantiated, and the claim was put to bed when the Nike rumour first surfaced a month ago.

No financial details of the deal have been disclosed, which suggests that Kitbag's stranglehold on the distribution and profits from the sale of Everton gear will continue unchanged.
