Mirroring his supporters' Player of the Year award at Everton's midweek gala, John Heitinga has been voted as Player of the Season by ToffeeWeb's readers, beating out Leighton Baines and Maroune Fellaini.

The Dutchman's popularity with the fans is the result of a stellar season in the heart of Everton's defence where he became first choice with display after display of accomplished defending that helped the Blues finish the campaign with one of the best defensive records in the Premier League.

Not surprisingly, Heitinga led the voting from the start and picked up 36% of the votes, with Baines collecting 24% and Fellaini 19%.
