Rodwell omitted from GB Olympic squad

As expected, Jack Rodwell has not been included in Stuart Pearce's Team GB squad for the London Olympics after Everton advised the midfielder to continue his recuperation from a succession of hamstring problems that significantly disrupted his 2011-12 season.

The 21 year-old helped spearhead the marketing campaign for Great Britain's new Olympic football team but he won't play any part in the Games.

That will come as good news for David Moyes who will want Rodwell fit and raring to go when the new Premier League season kicks off in mid-August.
